About me

The hypnotherapy I practice is gentle, collaborative, effective. It begins with deep relaxation, which most clients find very enjoyable.

Once the conscious mind is quietened, through this relaxation process, the subconscious can be addressed. It is in the subconscious that unwanted habits and fears lurk - the urge to smoke or to eat unhealthy food, for example.

Hypnotherapy can help clients to recognise, and overcome, long-standing and deep-rooted issues. Whether you experience generalized anxiety, fear of travel, social phobia, performance anxiety, overeating or an addiction, hypnotherapy may be able to help you.

I offer a fifty-minute introductory session, face-to-face and free of charge. This session is used to discuss your issues and lifestyle. I will also explain how hypnotherapy works in general, and how I work in particular. At the end of this free session, you will have a good idea as to whether hypnotherapy can work for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been running a hypnotherapy practice in Chorlton for seven years. Previously, I spent five years helping clients to overcome addictions. Prior to that, I worked with clients experiencing mental health issues.

Helping people to stop smoking is a passion. I smoked for 25 years and hypnotherapy helped me stop, for good. In 2015, I hosted a "Stop Smoking Through Hypnotherapy" event in Manchester. In October 2018, I was interviewed live for "Radio City Talk" about hypnotherapy and stopping smoking for good.

Weight loss through hypnotherapy is another specialism. I have extensive experience in this area and am happy to discuss weight loss - and how hypnotherapy might help you - in an introductory session.

I hold a Diploma (distinction) in Hypnotherapy from Chrysalis, an accredited professional training scheme. I have a BA in Philosophy from the University of Essex, and MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester. I am also a fully-qualified Counsellor.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

  • Driving test anxiety.
  • Job interview anxiety.
  • Technology and its impact upon relationships. I specialize in using hypnotherapy (and counselling) in the treatment of Smartphone or internet addiction.
  • Weight loss through hypnotherapy.

Therapies offered

  • Hypno-psychotherapy
  • Hypnoanalysis/Analytical hypnotherapy
  • Suggestion hypnotherapy

The introductory session is free of charge. This is used to decide whether we can work successfully together.

An individual, personal treatment package can then be agreed.

Fees are £50 per hour-long session. A reduced rate is offered if you book four, six or eight sessions.

I offer concessionary rates for those on lower incomes - if I have the capacity.

Further information

"Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live" (Dorothy Thompson).

Fear is often kept alive through inaction. When we take positive action, we often discover that fear begins to disappear.

Making contact is the next step in banishing your fear.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a hypnotherapist's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the hypnotherapist to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Wheelchair user access No

Please let me know if you are unable to climb stairs. We can then use a ground-floor room for your session. Unfortunately, The Counselling Rooms are not wheelchair accessible.
