About me

The hypnotherapy I practise is known as "permissive hypnotherapy". This means that it is a collaboration between you and me. Once I have explained what is going to happen, I will induce a state of relaxation (light trance). Your conscious mind will quieten and you begin to focus upon deeper feelings.

Gently, I will deepen the trance. Once you are fully relaxed, we can begin more profound work. This invoves addressing the subconscious - where fears, unhelpful beliefs, "forgotten" traumas and the feelings behind addictive behaviours, for example, hide.

Recently, I've been undertaking age regression hypnosis. The patient is taken back to the age at which they experienced deep trauma. By "regressing" to this age, within the safety of the therapy room, cathartic release can be achieved.

Another specialization is deep relaxation hypnosis. This allows you to really be in the moment, helps quieten your mind, allay unhelpful fears - and perhaps discover some deeper truths about yourself.

I have also been working on insomnia. Using hypnosis, we have discovered that "everday" distress - such as work-related stress - might mask deeper, less-acceptable fear. Once uncovered and talked through in the light of the therapy room, the patient might experience a profound release of long-held, painful emotion.

Finally, I have been working on addictive behaviours using hypnosis. These include: cannabis, vaping, alcohol, pornography and gambling.

I always offer a free, in person, introductory session. This session is used to discuss your issues and lifestyle. I will also explain how hypnotherapy works in general, and how I work in particular. At the end of this session, you will have a good idea as to whether we can work together, successfully.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been running a hypnotherapy practice in Chorlton since 2012. Previously, I spent five years helping clients to overcome addictions, in rehab and detox centres in Manchester. Prior to that, I worked in a move-on unit, for clients with a forensic mental health background.

I hold a Diploma (distinction) in Hypnotherapy from Chrysalis, an accredited professional training scheme. I have a BA in Philosophy from the University of Essex, and MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester. I am also a fully-qualified Psychotherapist.

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

  • Sleep problems - chronic fatigue; insomnia; troubling dreams.
  • Health concerns.
  • Generalized anxiety - fear for the future.
  • Job interview nerves.
  • Technology and its impact upon human life.
  • Issues with food and eating.
  • Stopping Smoking For Good.

Further information

"Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live" (Dorothy Thompson).

Fear increases if we do nothing. When we take positive action, we usually discover that fears begin to diminish and disappear.
