About me

A Hypnotherapist you can feel comfortable with.

I am a single mum of two boys. Other than hypnotherapy, I am totally obsessed with True Crime – be it documentaries, books, podcasts – I’m fascinated!! I eat, drink and breathe it!

I can be a little quirky and am not a stereotypical serious hypnotherapist - but I believe that is my strength - I like my clients to feel relaxed in my therapy rooms, and free to open up to me. I just want you to feel comfortable as this is what get the better results.

For many years I  really struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. It got so bad in 2012 that I was unable to work, go anywhere or do anything. It was a struggle to even go to the local shop. Whilst I didn’t go to a hypnotherapist to help with this (oh I wish I had known then what I know now!) it has given me a very real understanding of how debilitating such an issue can be, but also the knowledge that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Using evidence based, proven techniques to effect real change

As a Registered Hypnotherapist, I specialise in:

  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Regaining and building confidence
  • Children's anxiety and low confidence
  • Miscarriage
  • 3 Step Rewind for Birth Trauma
  • Hypnotherapy for fertility, pregnancy and post partum

I also offer hypnobirthing classes, both group and private sessions.

Based in Aigburth Vale, Liverpool and also offering online sessions.

What to expect

You can phone, email or text - whatever you feel most comfortable with (I know lots of people don't feel comfortable first reaching out over the phone). We can then have a discovery call to chat about your issue, what  you are expecting and how I can help.

If you decide to choose me as your hypnotherapist, I will send you a confirmation email which has all the details you need, including a link for my consultation and consent form to be filled in prior to the session. I require a £10 deposit to secure your booking (bank transfer details on that email) and the remainder to be paid 48 hours prior to our session.

What happens in a typical session?

First of all I offer you a drink - tea, coffee herbal teas are available. You will also have a glass of water too. We will then have a chat to help you feel at ease, and to answer any questions/dispel any worries you may have. I'll talk you through the process of hypnosis, and what I propose to do during the session - double checking that you are happy to proceed. Then the hypnotherapy proper will begin - I record it (with your consent) so that I can sent it to you so that you can listen to it again (I don't check up on this, so don't worry if you never touch it!). After the hypnosis, we have another chat to se how you feel and discuss anything you want to share about your experience -  I find people often like to tell me their experience  - but don't worry if you don't - everyone processes things in their own time and their own way!

How many sessions do I need?

This is the question I always get asked, yet the hardest to answer. I'm not going to use the analogy of 'how long is a piece of string' - (oh hang on  - I just did!!). But seriously, it is very hard to accurately predict how many sessions it may take - it depends on the issue, the severity of the issue/how deeply ingrained it is, but even that isn't necessarily a predictor as a lady I helped had a 47-year long phobia and was 'cured' with just 2 sessions. Having said that, I find that 3-5 sessions is a good average to work with. For that reason I offer a discount for a block booking of 4 sessions - you can have the first session, see if you like me, and then choose to opt in to the 4 session discount, so that each session, including the first is at the discounted price!

Do I need to commit to a certain number of sessions/a session every week?

No - You don't need to commit to anything with me - this is your journey, and you will know what is right for you! Some people like to really go for it once they have started on the journey and will have 2 sessions (or more) a week - others like to take the time to really absorb and reflect between sessions and so may like to space them out more. Whichever feels right for you! I don't prescribe to the model other hypnotherapists may use that you have to sign up to  X amount of sessions - that's a business tactic and not in the interest of my client!

Training, qualifications & experience

I combine evidence based, proven hypnotic and NLP techniques to offer a unique service to best suit your needs and help you tackle your issue(s), which will greatly improve your quality of life. Hypnotherapy and hypnosis have been surrounded in myth but I ensure I use techniques and strategies that are rooted in scientific evidence. I will work with you to achieve the best possible results. All I ask is that you come with an open mind and a readiness to immerse yourself in the treatment plan.

I originally gained a degree in Criminology and Sociology and a Masters in Cultural Policy and Management, then went to work in the Financial Industry. So it was a real departure to leave all that behind and retrain to be a hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. But am I so glad that I took that plunge as it is a really rewarding and interesting career! I have my Diploma in Hypnotherapy, one in NLP, specialist diplomas in Gastric Band Hypnosis and Smoking Cessation.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

info Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

I am also a Doula and Hypnobirthing teacher. Because of this knowledge and training, I also specialise in healing tokophobia (fear of pregnancy and/or birth), miscarriage, and birth trauma. I also can help with other pregnancy and post natal areas - turning a breach baby, encouraging labour, and helping with lactation

Testimonial

“I was looking for a hypnotherapist and looked through a few pages to find one I felt right to me. I instantly felt drawn to Cathie as a hypnotherapist and she was very responsive and friendly. I had my first session yesterday and loved the way she could switch from the informal with a great sense of humour to professional and amazing at what she does. I already feel a big change since the session and can’t wait to explore further with her guidance. Thank you Cathie!”

"I’ve had some really good sessions with Cathie. She is really friendly, supportive, and listens properly. I’ve learnt so much during the hypnotherapy that I know I can use Cathie’s tools to continue supporting my therapy when at home."

"Cathie is an empathetic and caring practitioner…full of helpful information, with so much patience. Thoroughly recommended."

"My daughter is 15 and has had emetophobia for a few years. Catherine has a very calming, gentle manner and is really helping her to overcome her phobia. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Catherine to anyone."

"Had my first session with Catherine today to overcome a phobia I've had for 47 years. I can't believe the outcome from just one session. I'm so excited to see what happens after a few more sessions. Thank you so much"

"Cathy is such a lovely woman and really supportive. She puts you at ease and it is evident she cares about your wellbeing, trying her upmost to cater to your individual needs and making sure you're aware that she is just a phone message away if needed. I always felt much more relaxed after our sessions.
Thank you Cathy"

"Had a wonderful experience and so far I haven’t had a cigarette in 2 weeks now, I don’t even feel like one! Have played the downloads Cathy gave me which seem to both relax me and affirm the ‘non smoker’ message. Honestly, this has been one of the best things I’ve done for my health and well-being and Cathy has the most amazingly calming voice and a lovely manner. Highly recommend, thank you Cathy x"

"In the short amount of time I've spent with Cathy she has really helped me find new ways to relax and control my thoughts. I started hypnotherapy to get my confidence back and I'm happy to say I feel like I'm now back on the right path and ready to start my new life in Australia (if I could take her with me I would 😊) thank you."

"Catherine was absolutely amazing with me from our first session. Helped me to gain tools to gain relief from my anxiety and helped me get back into the office. Along with that, Catherine was so easy to talk to, friendly and accommodating to fit sessions around work. Would definitely go back for more sessions."

"Absolutely amazing! Went to Catherine a few times to try and kick my snacking habits. Had two sessions and I hardly snack now. Highly Recommend!"
