Member organisations

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Further information

I have been to see other therapists but I had never found one that I really felt comfortable with.  Karen had been recommended to me by a couple of people I knew and from the first appointment I knew I had found the right person to help me.  My life is so much better now, but I do go back and see Karen every couple of months so that I don't ever let life get on top of me again  - Paul

I was looking for someone who could help me but I didn't know whether I needed hypnotherapy or counselling.  I spoke to a few people but then I found Karen and I was very reassured by qualifications and experience.  I was more than happy to pay slightly more than I had seen others charge because she was definitely worth it - Steven

Karen made me feel completely comfortable from the minute I walked into her office.  I cannot explain how much my life has improved and I have recommended her to many people - Louise

I can’t recommend Lifetherapy enough! Karen is professional but also caring and genuine. I felt at complete ease and really feel that the therapy I received has made such a positive impact on my life! Highly recommend - Emmy

I wasn't sure how I would feel about attending counselling, as a man it's not something I had ever thought I would do.  I am very glad I did and it was definitely worth the money - Alan

My confidence and self-esteem has really soared since I worked with Karen.  My life is definitely so much better now.  I even attended a group session recently with some of my friends, not only did with laugh and have a great time, but we all felt so much more positive afterwards - Kelly

I live in Spain, so definitely too far to visit, I am very grateful that Karen was able to work with me remotely - Eve

You get what you pay for and Karen's help was definitely worth the money - Lauren.
