About me

Hi there!  I'm a fully qualified, registered Clinical Hypnotherapist with an enhanced DBS certificate.  I work exclusively online at the moment until further notice.  More details about me below, including a video about how hypnotherapy works and a little mindfulness meditation to see me in action!

ABOUT YOU - how can I help?

Have you been feeling extremely anxious or fearful lately?  Is it severely impacting on your well-being, confidence and ability to live your life?  You may be feeling trapped, or misunderstood by your loved ones.  Your relationships/career might be suffering as a result.  If this sounds familiar, you may be nodding your head furiously!  I have some good news - your conditions can be managed or even overcome once you gain a deeper understanding into how your brain works (and why it appears to be sabotaging your happiness) and I can help you do this.

I have helped many people just like you, who felt they were beyond help.  I work with chronic anxiety, OCD, phobias, and low self-esteem.  Together, we can work to focus on your goals and be the successful happy person you deserve to be - so that you no longer feel trapped by your fears and negative expectations.

Because my focus is on helping you to to move forward rather than focus on your symptoms and your problems, you could make change happen more quickly.  My clients find that hypnotherapy is both relaxing and very empowering.  I will help you to gain a better insight into how your mind works, and how subconscious processes in the brain can be accessed and changed for your benefit. I can help you to gain control over your "fight or flight" system which is often like an oversensitive car alarm in people experiencing anxiety!

Please contact me by calling 0773 432 8834 or email sewhypnotherapy@gmail.com.  I will get back to you as soon as I can if you leave a message.  You can also visit my website to find out more about my service, www.sandrawilsonclinicalhypnotherapy.org

I am committed to offering a high quality service to my clients in a safe and confidential space. I practice at home in Brislington, Bristol, and online for those who cannot travel easily (exclusively online at the moment though).  I also run an online group relaxation aimed at women struggling with chronic anxiety.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a 1st Degree and a Post-Graduate Degree from Bristol University in addition to my Diploma in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and a Hypnotherapy Practitioner's  Diploma (HPD). This is benchmarked at Level 4 by OFQUAL. I am a member of the Association for Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and the National Hypnotherapy Council (NCH). I am also a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), which is a professional register approved by the Government-endorsed Professional Standards Authority. I abide by the codes of these membership bodies, and undertake regular supervision and continual professional development.

I have recently completed post-graduate CPD's (continuous professional development training) in working with children, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).  I hold an enhanced DBS certificate which assures you of my ability to work with vulnerable adults and children.

My background is in advice and management, and I have also recently spent a year working as a volunteer on a helpline that supports women who self-injure. I came to hypnotherapy after experiencing and overcoming particularly distressing bouts of insomnia: I received hypnotherapy and subsequently discovered the power of my own mind. I changed my unhelpful thinking patterns around sleep, learned to relax properly, improved some bad habits and started sleeping better. I find the human brain a constant source of amazement - we are capable of so much more than we think we are!

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a hypnotherapist's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the hypnotherapist to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Wheelchair user access

I offer online or telephone appointments for those who may find it hard to access my practice in person. These work just as well as face to face, and you remain in the comfort of your own home

Availability

My normal practice hours are Mondays 10-7pm, Tuesdays 3.30-6.30pm, and Saturdays 11-4pm.  I can be flexible other evenings during the week with notice, depending on other commitments.
