About me

When your mind won’t switch off, it can feel exhausting.

Maybe anxiety, overthinking, or worry keeps looping in your head.
Perhaps sleep is affected, confidence has dipped, or things simply feel harder than they should.

Many people who contact me say they feel stuck in their own mind.

The good news is that there are ways forward!

I’m Andrew (Andy) 👋 - a Clinical Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist, Counsellor and Psychotherapist.  I practise a modern, evidence-informed approach to hypnotherapy, offering sessions in Upper Heyford, near Bicester, Oxfordshire (OX25), as well as online across the UK and internationally.

I’m a professional member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the Association for Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH), and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

If you’re here, there’s a good chance something feels stuck, overwhelming, or harder than it should right now.

• Perhaps you feel constantly on edge or mentally drained
• Maybe everyday things are starting to feel heavier than they used to
• Or you simply sense something needs to change - but you’re not sure where to begin.

If any of that resonates, you’re not alone - and there are ways forward!

How I can support you

I support people like you to feel more at ease in your own mind, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and loosen unhelpful thinking patterns and habits that can quietly get in the way.

Together, we explore practical ways to respond to emotions more confidently and develop resilience, mindset, and coping strategies that support a more balanced and fulfilling life - whatever that means for you.

Often, people simply want to feel calmer, lighter, more emotionally present, or more like themselves again.

If you’d like to take a first step, you’re welcome to book a 60-Minute Initial Consultation, either via my website, or you can send me an email here or You can book your consultation directly here.

If you’re unsure whether hypnotherapy is the right fit for what you’re experiencing, you’re also very welcome to get in touch and ask.

Working with me

My style is warm, encouraging, professional and down-to-earth… and yes, therapy can still feel human, engaging, and even a little bit enjoyable!

I work with adults and young people aged 16+ (15+ if exam / revision stress), and I aim to offer an inclusive, respectful, and non-judgemental space where you don’t need to have the “right words” or a clear plan before you start.

You’re welcome exactly as you are and we take things at a pace that feels right for you.

Areas people often seek support with include:

  • Anxiety, excessive worry, panic attacks, overthinking, obsessive and compulsive thinking patterns (including OCD-related difficulties), and health anxiety
  • Stress, overwhelm, burnout, emotional exhaustion, anger management difficulties, and difficulty switching off
  • Low mood, emotional heaviness, reduced motivation, feelings of depression, and feeling mentally “stuck”
  • Sleep difficulties, including insomnia symptoms, racing thoughts, and trouble switching off at night
  • Self-confidence, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, procrastination, blushing, and performance pressure
  • Fears and phobias, such as fear of flying, driving anxiety, social anxiety, public speaking, dental anxiety, emetophobia, claustrophobia, and needle phobia
  • Health anxiety, including worries about illness, bodily sensations, or persistent over-checking and reassurance-seeking
  • Men’s non-medical sexual confidence and performance concerns (including erection confidence/erectile difficulties (ED), premature ejaculation (PE), delayed or absent orgasm (anorgasmia), performance anxiety, intimacy concerns, unwanted or repetitive sexual behaviours, or difficulties linked to frequent pornography use)
  • Relationship difficulties, attachment-related anxiety, jealousy, communication issues, confidence in dating, or separation and heartbreak
  • Life transitions and decision-making, such as career changes, identity shifts, uncertainty, or major life events
  • Performance pressure, including exam stress, interviews, presentations, workplace confidence, sports performance, and high-pressure professional environments

If you’re unsure whether what you’re experiencing “fits”- that’s okay. You don’t need a perfect label to begin - drop me an email.

You can find more detail on these areas on my website:

I support clients locally across Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, and Buckinghamshire, as well as online - both nationally and internationally.

How does Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy work?

I use a modern, gentle, and future-focused approach to hypnotherapy, informed by neuroscience, evidence-informed therapy, and conversational Ericksonian-style hypnosis approaches.

My work blends:

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Clinical Hypnotherapy
  • Elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
  • Mindfulness

Together, this creates a calm, supportive space where you can explore what’s already working, clarify meaningful goals, and experience a natural, focused trance-like state.

Sessions incorporate conversational hypnosis, metaphor, focused attention, and gentle therapeutic language patterns designed to support emotional flexibility, confidence, and lasting change over time.

Many people find this makes it easier for you to respond differently to thoughts, emotions (such as anxiety), and behaviours over time — not by forcing change, but by building clarity, confidence, and emotional flexibility.

What are the next steps?

I offer a 60-Minute Initial Consultation / Hypnotherapy Discovery Session  (no ½ measures here!) available in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire or online.

This is a calm, supportive space for you to be heard, explore what you’d like support with, and get a feel for how I work. You’re free to ask questions, and  there’s no pressure or obligation to continue.

Before Becoming a Hypnotherapist

I spent over 20 + years working in senior HR, talent and leadership roles, including as a Senior HR Consultant and owner of a successful London-based senior HR recruitment agency.  I have worked extensively with organisations ranging from start-ups and scale-ups to established businesses, supporting leaders, managers, business owners and high-performing professionals.

My background also includes employee benefits, reward, employee engagement and workplace wellbeing, giving me a practical understanding of the pressures people face both inside and outside of work.

This experience gives me a strong understanding of workplace stress, burnout, confidence challenges, imposter syndrome, leadership pressures, career transitions, professional performance, people management and the realities of working in demanding environments.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

People I often work with, or contexts where this approach can be particularly helpful, include:

  • Feeling mentally overloaded, stuck in loops of thinking, or finding it hard to switch off
  • Wanting to respond differently to stress, pressure, or emotional reactions rather than “manage symptoms”
  • Navigating change, uncertainty, or a sense that something needs to shift - even if they can’t yet name what
  • High-functioning on the outside, but feeling drained, disconnected, or worn down internally
  • Looking to build confidence, emotional resilience, and self-trust rather than analyse the past
  • Curious about a future-focused, practical approach that works alongside insight and reflection

I also have particular experience and an interest supporting:

Men's Mental Health and Non-Medical Psychosexual Wellbeing

Offering a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore challenges such as anxiety, stress, overthinking, burnout, emotional regulation, anger, confidence, low self-esteem, self-worth, identity, relationships, dating confidence, performance anxiety, heartbreak and men's mental health.

I also support men experiencing non-medical sexual confidence concerns, including sexual performance anxiety, sexual confidence, erection confidence, erectile difficulties (ED), difficulty getting or maintaining an erection, premature ejaculation (PE), delayed ejaculation, delayed or absent orgasm (anorgasmia), low libido, intimacy difficulties, sexual confidence after relationship breakdown, confidence with new partners, unwanted sexual habits, and difficulties linked to frequent pornography use. This work is psychological and emotional in focus and does not replace medical assessment where required.

Emergency Services, NHS, Military & High-Pressure Professions

I also have experience supporting members of the emergency services and other high-pressure professions, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, ambulance staff, prison officers, NHS and healthcare professionals, military personnel, veterans, social workers and those working in demanding public-facing roles.

People often seek support with anxiety, stress, burnout, overthinking, hypervigilance, sleep difficulties, panic attacks, confidence issues, emotional exhaustion and difficulty switching off from work. Many people in these roles are highly capable and resilient, but can find themselves constantly "on", carrying responsibility for others, struggling to relax, or finding that work is impacting life outside of work.

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy offers a practical, future-focused approach that can support emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence and a greater sense of balance.

A 10% discount is available for members of the emergency services, NHS, armed forces and military veterans. The discount applies to standard pay-as-you-go sessions only and cannot be combined with block booking discounts or other offers. Proof of eligibility may be requested.

LGBTQ+ Affirmative Support

Providing inclusive, respectful and non-judgemental hypnotherapy support for LGBTQ+ individuals, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary and queer people. Sessions may support confidence, self-esteem, anxiety, stress, identity, coming out, dating and relationships, workplace confidence, self-acceptance, people-pleasing, perfectionism and navigating life's challenges in a way that feels authentic and aligned with who you are.

As a gay therapist, I understand how experiences such as minority stress, fear of judgement, rejection, visibility, coming out, workplace challenges and navigating identity can impact confidence, wellbeing and relationships. I offer an affirming and supportive space where you can focus on building the future you want, in a way that feels safe, authentic and true to who you are.

I also have a particular interest in supporting gay, bisexual and LGBTQ+ men with confidence, anxiety, relationships, self-acceptance, identity, emotional wellbeing and non-medical sexual confidence concerns.

Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners, and Professionals

Supporting those experiencing stress, anxiety, overthinking, burnout, decision fatigue, imposter syndrome, confidence issues, self-doubt, perfectionism, comparison, people-pleasing, difficulty switching off, trouble relaxing, pressure to achieve, fear of failure, leadership challenges and performance pressure in high-responsibility roles.

Many people I work with are successful on the outside but privately feel overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, stuck in their own head, constantly "on", or find themselves carrying the weight of responsibility for their business, career, team or family. My approach is practical, future-focused and designed to support emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence and clearer thinking when life feels demanding.

If you’re unsure whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for what you’re experiencing, this can be explored during an Initial Consultation.

How Many Sessions Are Needed & How Often?

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is often a short- to medium-term approach. Many clients choose to work with me for around 6 - 12 sessions, depending on their goals, preferences, and circumstances.

Sessions usually start weekly, helping to build momentum and familiarity with the approach. Over time, sessions are often spaced out to fortnightly or longer, in collaboration, as things begin to feel more settled and manageable.

The focus is always on progress and practical change, moving at a pace that feels right for you.

Important Notes & Suitability

Hypnotherapy is a complementary approach designed to support emotional wellbeing and is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care.

Suitability is discussed during the Initial Consultation and, where appropriate, additional medical guidance may be requested before therapy begins.

I am unable to work with individuals currently experiencing psychosis or an immediate mental health crisis.

Working With Young People / Teenagers

I work with young people aged 16+ (15+ if exam / revision stress)
For clients aged 15–17, parental or guardian consent is required, and a parent or guardian is involved in the consultation process before therapy begins.

Client Feedback - The following reflects individual experiences. Everyone’s journey is unique.

“It felt different - focusing on positive changes rather than the past.”
