About me
Oliver Hollis MSc, BSc, BA, Dip Hyp.
NCH Registered Hypnotherapist
HCPC Registered and Chartered physiotherapist
If you are not sure about hypnosis, that’s really common but I make it safe and easy for you. It’s worth it, because the goal for nearly everyone is to get the changes you want in a way which feels easy and natural. There is nothing more natural than getting your mind in alignment and becoming the self you have been struggling to find.
I’ve had clients who struggled with willpower discover they can achieve their healthy weight after all.
I’ve seen clients stuck with debilitating anxiety before hypnosis, discover the life they’d hoped for.
I’ve worked with clients who experience chronic pain go on to change their experience and improve everything about their life. [Pain is a professional speciality. Pain can be profoundly altered with hypnosis. Backed by science (see my background).
These kind of problems have an impact on every aspect of your life – especially relationships.
If this sounds like something you’re seeking then please don’t hesitate to contact me. I offer a free discovery call so you can see if I’ll be the right hypnotherapist for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
As an NHS healthcare professional (HCPC Registered) you can trust that I am fully qualified and I work to the highest ethical standards for working with patients and clients. Contact with confidence regardless of gender, sexuality, or identity. Transgender, LGBTQ+, all welcome. You’ll get someone who has an empathetic ear, and will listen without judgement – no matter what’s going on in your life or in your head.
Training, qualifications & experience
MSc in Hypnosis in Research, Medicine, & Clinical Practice from Bournemouth University.
Decades of NHS experience as physio with specialisation in chronic pain – we work with brain as much as body – which is why my post-grad qualifications are in psychology. Science is important but I look at what it is to be human; to feel whole again. Hypnosis happens where mind and body meet. Self-care should move you toward a life you don’t need to run away from.
Main clinical areas:
- Weight (usually but not always weight loss)
- Anxiety
- Dependency
- Pain
- Sexual issues
Personal experience: I know what it was like to have constant headaches, groggy mornings, and pervasive anxiety. I felt doubts about my relationships and goals. With you, I simply offer a chance of clarity. Learn to access your subconscious mind to take or reject suggestions to slow down and focus so you can make the changes you need to feel better physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
More Training and Qualifications
Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), gold standard hypnotherapy qualification in the UK, plus ongoing clinical supervision
Active member of British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH). BSCAH membership is exclusively limited to medical doctors, qualified healthcare professionals, and academic hypnosis researchers. I regularly present at BSCAH webinars and I have taught emergency medicine doctors how to use fast, hypnotic techniques for pain relief, panic attack management, and patient sedation without anaesthesia in the ED (A&E).
Registered with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and abide by their strict code of ethics for hypnotherapists.
State registered physiotherapist (Health & Care Professions Council, HCPC). Clear, stringent ethics for patient protection.
The main branch of the “psychological tree” I’ve trained in has the behavioural approaches of:
ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) and
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) — which I often use in conjunction with hypnosis. I qualified in CBT for pain at master’s level at the University of Hertfordshire. I also use
REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy) which has distinctive features useful for overcoming obstacles to change.
