Are you struggling with anxiety or low mood and lack of motivation?
Hypnotherapy is a relaxing combination of talking therapy and hypnosis which can help you to successfully overcome many problems, allowing you to get your life back on track.
Some of the issues Hypnotherapy can help include:
- Anxiety and Panic Attacks
- Low mood and Depression
- Low Self-Esteem
- Eating Problems
- Obsessions and Compulsions
- Alcohol Abuse
- Quit Smoking
And much more...
What to expect
The first part of each hypnotherapy session consists of solution focused talking therapy. As the name suggests, the therapy focuses on solutions for the future rather than going over problems of the past. It is a collaborative process in which I work in partnership with you to help you imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. In the second part of the session I will guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis to re-enforce what we have discussed.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an extremely pleasant state of relaxation, similar to day dreaming. You remain awake and totally in control at all times. I will guide you into this relaxed state through the use of positive visualisations. In this state of trance your subconscious mind is more receptive to beneficial suggestions, accepting directions to promote positive change. Brain waves change during this process, allowing you to see solutions to problems more easily and to change the way you think in order to feel better, more confident and more in control.
The initial consultation is one hour in length and gives you the opportunity to find out more about hypnotherapy and how the process works. I will go through a full explanation of how our mind works and how hypnotherapy can help you get to where you want to be. There is no hypnosis session during this consultation, but it is a very important session giving you information that can be extremely helpful.
I will also give you a free hypnosis CD/download to listen to at home between sessions.
Number of sessions
The number of sessions required is very much individual and varies from person to person. Using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, change can be achieved effectively and relatively quickly. My goal is to work with you for the shortest time necessary for you to achieve the changes you want to make. As a general guide, the number of sessions may range from 4 for a phobia to 8 -12 for clinical depression.
What people say
Here are some of the things clients have said after a number of sessions:
” I feel more confident about myself.”
"I feel calmer and more in control".
“I feel like my old self again.”
"Through hypnotherapy I have turned my life around.”

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist and have over seven years experience of working with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.
My areas of expertise include helping people with anxiety and confidence issues, depression, pain management and insomnia. For three years I worked within the NHS at the University Hospital of Wales, helping patients (receiving treatment for cancer) with anxiety related issues.
I trained at the Clifton Practice in Bristol, a recognised centre of hypnotherapy excellence. I have been awarded the Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy (DHP) and the Hypnotherapy Practitioner's Diploma (HPD), qualifications which are recognised by professional bodies and considered to be the gold standard in hypnotherapy training.
Since completing my training I have had regular supervision sessions and have attended many professional development courses to expand my knowledge and keep up to date with the latest research on how the brain works.
I am registered with the CNHC, the UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners and am subject to their strict code of ethics. I am also a member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH).
I am fully insured and have enhanced DBS clearance.
Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) was set up to provide information about a modern form of Hypnotherapy and its associated benefits to members of the public. The main aim of the AfSFH is to spread awareness of the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Its secondary aim is to support Hypnotherapists in their businesses by encouraging good practice and self-care.
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council
The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.
In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.
A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
