About me

Hello! I'm a Hypno-Psychotherapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy. I follow a CBT model and blend hypnosis techniques with the CBT and mindfulness to help you overcome strong emotions and change both how you think and behave. I specialise in working with anxiety disorders, depression, habits, phobias, low self esteem, insomnia and anger management.

How I can help

I can coach you in learning to let go of negative, anxious thoughts and teach you how to challenge and dispute the ones that you feel are trickier, while also helping you change any negative behaviours and increasing your overall resilience and coping abilities. My main goal is to teach you to be your own therapist and provide you with the correct tools and techniques so that problems can feel more manageable and feel easier to overcome.

Therapy is not a magical cure; however, it is an opportunity to try something new to change it and assess what maintains the problem.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy – Treating current problems, not past traumas.

In CBH the focus is on helping you cope and manage your problem in the present, as no matter how difficult something we have gone through may be, we cannot undo the past, but we can change the way we respond in the present moment and future.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy therefore emphasizes our capacity for change, aiming to address problems by modifying thought patterns and behaviours, akin to traditional CBT. Both CBH and CBT leverage principles of cognition, focusing on negative thinking—termed "negative self-hypnosis" in hypnotherapy and "negative automatic thinking" in CBT. CBT is therefore used to change negative thinking patterns and hypnosis to enhance therapy by inducing deep relaxation and heightened focus, improving receptiveness to suggestions for change.

In CBH, notions of trance are rejected and hypnosis is explained in ordinary scientific terms as 'focused attention', in which we become more relaxed, receptive to change and positive goal orientated hypnotic suggestions. Hypnosis essentially enhances the effects of CBT, according to research.

Working together

My approach to therapy and support is rooted in evidence based scientific principles in which I adhere to latest research in CBH and Hypnotherapy. I work in a person-centered, holistic and explanatory to ascertain what is maintaining your problem and how we can change it or manage it better. Together, we will create a treatment plan that suits you and work together to help you achieve your therapy goals.

Sessions

All sessions are delivered via Zoom and are £60 per hour. The number of sessions you will require will depend on the complexity of your problem, however, usually clients do not require more than 20 sessions. I offer free 15-minute telephone calls during which I can answer any questions you may have and discuss whether CBH is the right approach for you.

If you are ready to take the first step in making changes so that you can start moving towards living a more resilient, balanced and fulfilling life, then contact me to learn more about CBH and to book a 15 minute call.
