About me

Approach and Philosophy

I offer a gentle approach to helping you make positive life changes and achieve your wellness goals. I have worked with many clients to help them overcome deep rooted anxieties, fears and habits that have limited their quality of life. Many of the challenges faced when living with anxiety can feel overwhelming and you may feel unsure where to start. With a non-judgemental and compassionate attitude we can work together to start you on a new, more relaxed and enjoyable life path.

Often anxiety, fears and undesired habits stem from a place of stress as a means of self-soothing or self-sabotage which keeps to stuck in an uncomfortable 'comfort zone'. This might look like smoking, unhealthy relationships with food or exercise or panic attacks.

Together we can develop a new, more helpful mindset that will support you to achieve the changes you wish to make in your life.

Why did I become a hypnotherapist?

During my time as a teacher, I found myself frequently dipping in to burnout as I was dealing with chronic stress and anxiety. I found that other forms of therapy, exercise, breathing techniques could only help to a point. A family friend had recently qualified as a hypnotherapist and suggested I give it a go. So I did. I found my first session to be a profound experience, and with each subsequent session I noticed myself feeling better and dealing with daily stress more effectively.

Overtime I became increasingly interested in the power of hypnotherapy and how it had created such a lasting change in me. I started researching hypnotherapy in my own time, before finally deciding to take the leap to study and complete the Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnotherapy.

Client Achievements

In my practice, I've witnessed profound transformations in clients, both externally visible and deeply felt. Through tailored hypnotherapy sessions, I've had the privilege of guiding individuals to:

  • Cultivate healthier relationships with themselves and others
  • Experience increased calmness and freedom from stress and anxiety
  • Successfully quit smoking in a single session
  • Enhance confidence in performing and presenting before audiences
  • Reprogram shallow breathing patterns stemming from years of undiagnosed anxiety
  • Develop healthier relationships with food and exercise, leading to weight loss
  • Take control over unwanted 'unhealthy' habits around alcohol
  • Overcome IBS symptoms
  • Conquer fears such as swimming, heights, and flying
  • Overcome social anxiety and fear of rejection

These achievements underscore the power of hypnotherapy in fostering holistic well-being and empowering individuals to overcome personal obstacles.

Clients and experience

I work with adults, young people and children from age 7 and up. Stress can affect people of all ages, but we can learn tools and rewire our brain to better cope with stress and resulting behaviours and habits.

As a dedicated professional, I bring to my practice a Bachelor's Honours degree in Primary Education. This foundational training has equipped me with invaluable insights into child development and pedagogy, enriching my approach to supporting clients of all ages in their journey towards holistic well-being.

Throughout my time as a primary school teacher in Scotland, I had the privilege of engaging with a diverse array of students. Among them, I encountered numerous individuals confronting hurdles in their educational journey, often compounded by feelings of anxiety and apprehension. Whether stemming from changes at home, encounters with bullying, or the complexities of navigating a neuro-divergent profile, many of these young learners grappled with  feelings of unease. Witnessing their struggles underscored the paramount importance of providing comprehensive therapeutic support tailored to children's unique circumstances.

As a trained and qualified paediatric hypnotherapist, I am equipped to assist children aged 7 and above in overcoming a variety of issues. My experience in education has provided me with valuable insights into the unique needs of children and adolescents, allowing me to tailor my approach to meet each individual's specific requirements.

If you or your child is facing difficulties such as anxiety, behavioural concerns, or other challenges, know that support is available. Together, we can work towards empowerment in order to navigate life's obstacles with confidence and resilience.

Remember, you don't have to face these challenges alone. Change can be challenging, but with the right support, it's achievable.
