About me

I know it has likely taken a lot of courage and honesty for you to get to this page and that coming to therapy can be a huge step, but the moment we make new choices, things have already begun to change.

It may be that you’re experiencing brain fog, procrastination or perhaps you’re finding yourself easily overwhelmed and your anxiety levels are increasing; or you might even be feeling a bit flat, with low self-esteem or disconnected to your life, that gradually you’re making your world that little bit smaller, just to feel safe. You may or may not know why this is happening, but talking to a therapist can bring clarity to the confusion and help you to discover where your control lies.

As an integrative hypnotherapist, I specialise in hypnotherapy for trauma, anxiety, grief and loss in a safe, relaxing and relieving environment. I take an explorative approach, drawing on a range of techniques to find your pace and work together to discover what is best for your individual needs. Based in North Herts, I run face-to-face sessions at clinics in Royston (RCHC) and Buntingford (attend2health) working with adults 18+. If you have any questions, please email me to ask or book in a free 15 min chat over the phone.

Whether you’re new to hypnotherapy or have experienced it before, I can offer a calm and welcoming space where you will be heard without judgement and can confidentially explore these difficult emotions at your own pace and start to make sense of what has happened and what it means for you. I can teach you useful coping tools to help you find safety and stability within your mind and body once again.

Trauma: childhood; relational; domestic; sexual; vicarious.

Trauma can leave you feeling lost, disorientated and lacking in direction or confidence in life. Hypnotherapy can help you:

  • grieve the losses and find a new trust in life
  • learn techniques to calm your body including the importance of healing your vagus nerve
  • understand what contributed to or brought you to this point in your life
  • integrate the meaning of the trauma into your life as it is now
  • build your confidence and self-esteem back up
  • re-connect to your needs, values, wants and desires on a deeper level

Taking an holistic approach to trauma I believe hypnotherapy for trauma is most helpful from 6 months to years after the event. That time when you feel more stable but ready to explore some things you are struggling with concerning the impact the event/s have had on you and your life. If you are currently in crisis, I would recommend an initial course of counselling before exploring your subconscious with hypnotherapy.

Grief & loss: bereavement; divorce/separation; financial.

I provide on-going support to help you make sense of your situation.

  • acknowledging the loss with compassion
  • exploring the impact and meaning of your loss
  • understanding the 5 stages of the grief
  • discovering how acceptance can bring some peace
  • building a new life around your loss and what that looks like for you

Anxiety: perhaps due to fears or phobias, social or generalised anxiety, it can manifest in many different ways.

  • learn useful coping tools to manage your anxiety
  • learn how to relax and help your body feel safe even in times of stress
  • take back your control
  • build your confidence to make the change

I also have experience of helping clients with bruxism, jealousy, tinnitus, smoking cessation, sleep difficulties, phobias and weight loss.

What to expect in session:

  • The first step is to either book an initial free 15 minute chat or you can choose to go straight to your first 75 minute consultation session.
  • Once you have booked your initial full session, I will email the consultation form and contracting details to you for the consultation session.
  • During the first consultation session, we talk about why you have come to hypnotherapy, how it is affecting your life and what you hope to gain from hypnotherapy, followed by an introduction to hypnosis through progressive muscle relaxation. In addition to the work we do in hypnosis, at times a session may also incorporate some CBT exercises, journaling or creative image work for example.
  • From the consultation I will draw up an initial session plan which we will discuss and review on a regular basis during following sessions.
  • Follow up sessions are 60 minutes at weekly intervals. Depending on the treatment you are seeking, generally an initial 6 weeks minimum is recommended.

If you would like to chat to me before the first consultation session to see if hypnotherapy is right for you, I offer an initial free 15 minute call. Please email me if you would like to arrange a suitable time.

If you wish to know more, please visit my website or email me at amanda@indigowellness.co.uk.

I look forward to joining you in discovering your new way forward.

  • Build self-confidence & self-esteem
  • Aid sleep
  • Help with minor addictions or bad habits
  • Help with minor eating problems
  • Provide support to help stop smoking

I believe hypnotherapy is like learning a new life skill. A skill that provides a natural way of taking control of the changes you want to make by exploring and reframing your thoughts, responses, and feelings through deep relaxation. Hypnotherapy can support and strengthen your ability to deal with difficult experiences and bring forth a new perspective. I approach it as self-care for your mind, body and aspirations.
