If you're considering trying solution-focused hypnotherapy, you may have questions about how it works, and how it may be able to help you. Let's explore some frequently asked questions.

1. What is solution-focused hypnotherapy?

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a type of ‘talking therapy’ that combines the use of psychology with hypnosis. A modern psychotherapeutic approach, it uses a practical structure, and well-researched strategies to help the client make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period.

SFH use a wide range of techniques and approaches, such as:

These approaches work together to relax the client's mind while achieving their desired goal in life with modern research combined from brain-based and evidence-based studies – the reason behind SFH success rates.

2. How does solution-focused hypnotherapy work?

Solution-focused hypnotherapy works by helping us change our thoughts so we can behave in ways that are consistent with the lives we want for ourselves.

Hypnosis or ‘trance’ is a very natural, relaxing state. Trance is when the two minds – your conscious and subconscious minds – come together and focus on the same thing. When we are in this state, we have access to the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility during which positive suggestions and guided imagery are used to help individuals deals with a variety of concerns and issues.

It helps clients reduce their stress so they function better in the present moment. This can be done through a process that helps rewire unhelpful habits and behaviours while also reducing anxiety, depression or other issues people might have when trying to cope with life's challenges.

3. How long does solution-focused hypnotherapy take?

Typically, SFH takes about eight sessions to work towards achieving your goals. However, it varies depending on how motivated you are to make changes and how quickly you find your ‘aha’ moment.

4. What can solution-focused hypnotherapy treat?

Solution-focused hypnotherapy can help with many different issues such as stress, anxiety, confidence, relationships issues, phobia, depression, anger, PTSD and more! It can also help people with weight loss by giving them practical strategies on how to successfully lose weight without dieting.

It is an innovative form of treatment that uses tailored approaches to target your unique problems in order for you to receive the most effective solution possible. SFH does this by focusing on the solution as opposed to the problem.

5. How old do I have to be in order to go for solution-focused hypnotherapy?

There is no specific age limit that SFH cannot treat anyone, regardless of their age group! SFH works on the premise that we can all change and we all deserve a better quality of life.

6. How will I feel during and after a session?

During a session of SFH, the client is asked to relax and simply go with the process without worrying about what they have to say or do. After being guided through hypnosis, clients usually report feeling refreshed and more relaxed. For some, it can be deeply moving or a life-changing experience.

7. How much does solution-focused hypnotherapy cost?

The exact rate varies from therapist to therapist but typically costs around £60 to £100 for one session.

8. Where can I go for solution-focused hypnotherapy?

There are many qualified and experienced SFH therapists all over the world, so you should have no trouble finding one near you. If not, there is also a number of online SFH therapists you can contact.

9. How do I know that solution-focused hypnotherapy is the right choice for me?

If you want to achieve a significant positive change in your life, if you are willing to invest some time and effort into it, then it’s definitely worth it to give SFH a go. Most therapists offer a free consultation for a chance to discuss your concerns as well as what you would like to achieve.

10. What is the next step I should take?

Simply research solution-focused hypnotherapists in your area and contact them if you feel that this might be something that will help you achieve the life you want or find an online therapist through sites like the Hypnotherapy Directory.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy has helped many people change their lives for the better. Here are some of my client examples:

A client of mine came to me as she was suffering from panic attacks and high levels of anxiety. She had taken time off work as this was causing her a lot of distress. After 10 sessions, my client no longer suffers from panic attacks and manages her anxiety well. Not only has she returned to work but she has launched her very own book.

"Before I started solution-focused hypnotherapy, I was experiencing anxiety and panic attacks as well as sleep issues. Since working with Ayesha, I have regained my confidence, my sleep has improved drastically. I am a lot more relaxed, calm and look forward to the future instead of feeling dread. What I liked most about having SFH sessions was the combination of hypnotherapy and practical solution-focused work.

"I tend to overthink and so it helped to work on my subconscious as well as my well-being. I have done various types of therapy and I just felt I needed something different but wasn’t sure what. I would recommend solution-focused hypnotherapy because it doesn’t take long to see results. The benefits I have received from SFH is increased confidence and happiness and embarking on new projects that I am excited about."

I helped a client who was suffering from trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder), also known as trich, a condition when someone cannot resist the urge to pull out their hair. They may pull out the hair on their head or in other places, such as their eyebrows or eyelashes – after just a few sessions my client had reduced her stress levels and stopped pulling her hair.

Another client was constantly procrastinating. This was affecting his business. Following just three sessions, he was more focused and able to execute his day.

"Before I had my sessions, I had an issue with procrastination and time management. It was a nightmare, constantly chasing time to keep up with the things that I needed to do. During the hypnotherapy sessions, I found clarity around why I have been procrastinating and how it has led to time management issues. I have been able to slow down my hectic lifestyle and control the pace of things. There is so much more focus and clarity in how I execute my day to day and that’s all the difference I have needed."

A young woman who struggled with imposter syndrome, threw epic tantrums when things did not go her way. Her work-life balance was completely out of whack and the mere idea of interacting with her clients filled her with utter horror.

Following her eight sessions, my clients said, "I feel less anxiety when it comes to managing my life, and more confident running my business. I am no longer overwhelmed by the idea of managing my life, and my temper tantrums are a thing of the past. My business is thriving, I am taking on more clients comfortably and still have time to manage my personal life with ease. What surprised me the most from this whole experience is the peace of mind of knowing I can handle anything that comes my way."
