Our editorial process

We know just how impactful hypnotherapy can be, and it is our mission to raise awareness of this powerful approach and help people connect with a hypnotherapist. To do this, we focus on these key points:

  • clear explanations of what hypnotherapy is
  • exploring common issues you may face and how hypnotherapy can help
  • various approaches used by hypnotherapists

These areas are explored throughout our website, especially in our Hypnotherapy A - Z section, our Types of hypnotherapy section and our Expert articles section. We share content in various forms, from written to video and audio.

How we create our content

Our editorial team looks after all information published on Hypnotherapy Directory. They write most of the information pages you’ll come across and follow a comprehensive process for publishing information, including rigorous research and expert reviews from our trusted members (the hypnotherapists listed with us).

You’ll see articles written by our members in the articles section, exploring all facets of hypnotherapy, mental health, wellness and personal development. Each article is proofread and vetted by our editorial team.

Our editorial standards

Whenever we publish a piece of information, we keep the following standards in mind:

  • making sure the language we use is free of jargon and easy to understand
  • approaching sensitive topics with the care they deserve
  • including all readers by being inclusive in our language
  • focusing on well-researched, accurate and expert-reviewed content

We strive to educate ourselves on the latest research in the field, ensuring our information is up-to-date and reflects current thinking. If we receive feedback from readers, we capture this and respond where appropriate. All this to say, we have high standards for our content and continue training to improve every step of the way.

Writing and editorial style

We understand that people looking for help may be feeling lost or unsure where to turn. In our writing, we seek to be supportive, leading the way and presenting options in a clear and understanding way. Our tone balances the science behind hypnotherapy with the emotional complexity that can come with looking for help.

Our aim is to guide readers, allowing them time to explore different options and decide what is right for them. Being inclusive in how we write allows us to reach all corners of society, representing the varied world we live in.

Use of imagery

Images can be a helpful way of adding interest, context and emotion to our work. Whenever imagery is used on our site, we carefully consider what to choose. Avoiding stereotypes is key, helping us relate to our readers and offer a realistic view of how hypnotherapy may look.

Our images showcase diversity, tying in with our use of inclusive language and our belief that hypnotherapy can support anyone.

What’s our stance on AI?

AI can be a helpful tool and is fast becoming commonplace in various industries. We recognise AI as a way of helping with certain tasks, however, we maintain a human-first approach when it comes to publishing information.

This means information should be written by and for humans, with human oversight at every step of the process. Learn more about our AI policy
