Does hypnosis work for weight loss?

Most people do not understand that in many cases, obesity is a psychological problem rather than a physical one. There are many reasons for someone’s weight gain other than the oversimplified “being lazy and overeating” clause. Some people have emotional issues that they encounter with food which may include suffering from an eating disorder, compulsive eating, emotional eating and food addictions. These are all mental states in nature and so need a treatment that will target them as such.

Many people who have tried other approaches and failed have a question:

Does hypnosis work for weight loss?

Yes! The straightforward answer is yes it can. Hypnosis is a science that targets a person’s subconscious through relaxation techniques. The sleep-like state gives clarity and relieves anxiety. The reason many people are overweight or even obese is because they have negative association with food, workouts and activity in general. Whilst their conscious voice reasons they need to lose weight, their subconscious sabotages it consistently.

From an early age, some of us learn to find an escape in food. However, we are taught that overeating is wrong and if you do it, you must punish yourself with killer workouts. This conditioning leaves us jaded at the very thought of a diet (good eating habits) and exercising. It is all about how we view certain things in a negative context which makes us start despising them.

The reason the gym appears to be full of fit, skinny people is because they go because they enjoy it and don’t see it as a punishment for overeating. They enjoy the way being fit feels and have a totally different approach and mindset to physical exercise. At the end of the day – who does feel good and healthy with a bloated stomach and a constant feeling of lethargy?

This should not be the case and therefore it is this negative association that hypnosis targets to help you lose weight. We should automatically want a healthy diet and an active lifestyle and it should feel as natural as breathing. The benefits of eating healthily far outweigh any of the quick fixes you convince yourself a chocolate bar will do.

Whilst indulging in a high sugar, high fat, calorific diet may make you feel temporarily satisfied, if you really think about it and analyse it – it is satisfying some emotional need. Your physical body quickly rebels making you feel sick and disgusted with yourself and thus, the emotional cycle continues as you eat once more to comfort yourself.

How does hypnosis work for weight loss?

Hypnosis reconditions your brain by installing new positive associations with food and exercise. If you view your exercising regimen as being as much fun as say a shopping spree, would you still want to ditch it?

Hypnosis programmes your thoughts through constant practice until they become a habit and positivity becomes second nature to you.

In particular to weight loss, it will re-establish how you see yourself and what you think your capabilities are in various ways.

Here are some of the factors that will benefit you:

It will strengthen you: You will know that you are strong and do not need food as a crutch.

Helps you see food as fuel: Food is for energising your bodily functions and hypnosis will help you learn this again.

Hypnosis helps you conquer emotional swings: If you are feeling stronger and more positive all day long, you are less likely to overeat for emotional reasons.

It will give you confidence: The healthier you feel, the better you will feel. You will be choosing clothes you know you look good in instead of clothes you can hide in.

It will improve your overall health: Being the weight you should be can only bring benefits to your physical and mental well-being.

So, why not choose hypnosis today for a healthier body and mind?
