About me

Hello and thanks for visiting my profile.

Having had hypnotherapy myself some years ago, I know the value that this type of therapy offers and this is what inspired me to train as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist.  Life has a habit of throwing us unwanted challenges and I believe that we are all fellow strugglers.  Through having experienced hypnotherapy as a treatment and by using it professionally, I have learnt how hypnotherapy can help you to change the way you think, by changing your mindset, freeing you from ingrained negative thoughts, habits and beliefs.

I took my time to research one of the best trainers I could find and chose to train with Trevor Silvester at the Quest Institute at Regents University, London, qualifying as a Certified Master Practitioner.  I also have a qualification as an NLP Practioner and I have trained in EFT, EMI  and Havening techniques.

I have a special interest in women's mental wellbeing and working with children and teenagers.  I enjoy working with a variety of issues such as anxiety, confidence, low self-esteem, fear of exams, stress management, depression and trauma, and I have additional training in menopause management.  Other issues I'm experienced in working with include: weight loss issues, phobias, insomnia, OCD, IBS, smoking and bad habits.  I have also trained as a Hypnobirthing practitioner.

Having come from a background in education, working as a specialist teacher, I have always enjoyed working with young people.  As a result, I have completed additional training with 'Kids Matter' and Hypno4Kids to help children, teenagers and young adults who are struggling with a range of difficulties, these include: anxiety, fear of exams, low confidence and low self-esteeem, social anxiety, depression, bad habits and sleep issues, amongst others.

I am also a certified Easibirthing Hypnobirthing Practitioner and enjoy helping women and their partners overcome any anxieties and fears related to birthing. My aim is to equip you with strategies and techniques to cope and enjoy this special experience and utilise this in childbirth and beyond.  Easibirthing Hypnobirthing is usually taught as a private 5 session package, it takes mothers-to-be through the stages of labour and birth, through to the postnatal stage and beyond.  I teach women the three principles of remaining calm, confident and in control. Whatever type of birth a mother experiences, by learning deep relaxation and visualisation, the mother is able to go 'within themselves' and retain a sense of calm and control even when a birth experience has not been straight forward, giving them every chance of the best outcome for their baby and themselves.

Getting Started:

You can email me or contact me on 07523101952 for a free consultation. The first session consists of an in-depth discussion of your issue and based on this I will make a treatment plan for you.  In addition, I will  send you an audio recording based on the information gained from this initial session.  As hypnotherapy is a collaborative therapy, and not something that is 'done to you', it's important that you are committed to listening to these recordings regularly as they play an important part of your treatment.  I often assign clients tasks such as journaling, reading book recommendations or online clips to watch, that can compliment their treatment.  The first couple of sessions are normally a week apart and then sometimes monthly, depending on the particular problem.  Usually treatment takes between 3-6 sessions, but some can take longer, if there are many layers to the issue. Treatments can be booked as a discounted package or individual sessions.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to have a chat about your issue or if you have any queries, I'd love to hear from you.

I offer a free audio recording designed to encourage relaxation, so just send an email to info@vanessaedwardshypnotherapy.co.uk to receive your Mp3.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Quest Institute at Regents University, London. I have the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma, Certified Master Practitioner and I am NLP Certified Practitioner . I am a member of NCH and CNHC, set up by the Department of Health. As part of this membership I am obliged to do at least 15 hours CPD training each year. I am also a certified Easibirthing Hypnobirthing Practitioner. I have also had extra training in the following areas: EMI, Havening, Weightloss, Menopause Management, Hypnobirthing, Children and teen issues

Previously, I’ve worked in education as a teaching assistant and specialist teacher, working mainly with dyslexic pupils. As a mum of three now grown up children, I feel I have a good understanding of children and teens and enjoy working with this age group. I have a particular interest in working with anxiety and confidence issues.
