It is important to remember that however much you may be suffering, what you are experiencing is a sequence of negative events locked in a particular moment in time. With help, this period will pass.

"A truly inspirational life coach encouraging self develop and recovery from a vast variety of life situations. Thanks Stuart you were a key player in the process to recovery.
I cannot recommend Stuart enough. Stuarts professionalism and understanding of such a wide variety of life issues that effect mental health, relationships and personal development allowed me to work a process of recovery from rock bottom. Stuart is not just a Hypnotherapist his talking therapy is also very effective depending on your requirements and what you prefer. Having struggled with mental heath including depression and anxiety, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts, alcoholism, toxic relationships and other issues that can hold you back in life Stuart offered great advise and encouragement to improve my situation. Stuart was a key part of my recovery process where I have learnt to self love, rebuild my self confidence, make life changing decisions and find myself again. It is not until you recover from the darkest of places that you realise how ill you may have been. I cannot thank Stuart enough for his support and look forward to more but less frequent sessions in the future. Thank you Stuart. "

What is addiction and how to beat it ?

Vast numbers of us do things to excess, or have the feeling that it might be difficult to stop doing something, or sometimes wonder why on earth we have just done something that seemed attractive before we did it.
Over 25% of all Britons smoke, for example, a behaviour that costs tens of thousands of pounds in the course of an average lifetime, and not only shortens that life but makes it unpleasant for others and often dreadful for the smoker. However, a proper understanding of the givens of human nature could change all that.
Addiction spreads to every kind of pleasurable behaviour: drinking, surfing (wave and internet), sex, food, and so on. Some activities or substances can generate a feeling that is so powerful that life without that feeling may never seem worthwhile again. For example, many gamblers have a big win early in their career and then spend the rest of their life chasing that buzz.

My first consideration will always be the confidentiality of our client therapist relationship, your welfare, safety and comfort. Your treatment session will be, first and foremost, unique to you and will begin the process whereby you start to re-frame the problem and to circumvent whatever blockages are preventing you from leading a normal and happy life.

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Emotional eating
can and does sabotage any attempt at weight loss.

If you want to change your body...you have to change your mind......

How you think determines what you eat. Everything we do comes from a thought, unconscious or conscious.

Most of our habits and behaviours, including eating habits, are formed in our subconscious mind.

From an early age, you learn that if you cry, you get fed. If you fall over or do well, you are rewarded, maybe with a biscuit or treat.....food becomes a comfort, an eating pattern which makes you feel better. Diets have been around for 70 years and the population is getting more overweight than ever, what does that say about diets?? Diabetes is now at record numbers, why?

In order to successfully lose weight and remain slim, you have to change your thought processes around food.

Change your mind with Weight Loss Hypnotherapy - think more and eat less. Experience fantastic results now. Choose a healthier, slimmer you!!!

"I am the mother of a teenage son who suffers from anxiety and OCD.

He did not sleep through the night until he was 14 and then it was only with yoga breathing and a great deal of time spent that he relaxed enough to drift off and stay asleep all night.

A disturbing incident in his primary school years compounded the problem and as he reached his mid teens, his anxiety was causing self destructive behaviour.

After a series of visits to Stuart, my son has re-gained his self confidence and his belief that he is capable of controlling what happens to him. This is a major achievement and I will be eternally grateful to Stuart for turning around the negative thoughts of fear and exposure to disaster that were in my son’s mind and affected his every waking moment. Particularly at night when he was terrified by nightmares and night terrors.

My son is now a different person. He has self control, he can calm his mind and relax in order to think clearly and positively about daily challenges. This priceless skill he has learnt from Stuart. He is changing his social behaviour and taking care of himself more.

I am so proud of the strong young man that he has grown into and I thank Stuart for helping him to turn a crucial corner.

Stuart has helped to turn my son away from a dangerous road and I am incredibly thankful for that."

A happy mother.

"I contacted Stuart , needed to lose some weight .Two and half months later, 4 sessions and i have lost 3 stone and the weight loss continues.
Hypnotherapy installed in me the right mental approach to food, portion control and motivation to exercise . Highly recommended, great lasting results "
Steve , Warwickshire Oct 2016.

"I also went to Stuart so that I could get help dealing with my anxiety problem which developed in my teens because of chronic blushing. I underwent keyhole surgery (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy, or ETS) to stop the physical act of blushing but I was still left with mental scars that gave me day to day problems and prevented me from moving on with certain aspects of my life.My anxiety would go through the roof during social situations and I would constantly feel on edge. I would plan every part of my day to try and avoid certain people and situations, and I would constantly scan my surroundings for perceived threats. After a few sessions with Stuart I found that I had actually done things without even thinking about being anxious and my level of anxiety in social situations had more or less disappeared. I no longer scan my surroundings and I now feel like I have the confidence to get on with my life in the knowledge that my fight or flight response will no longer be activated in public situations. I never thought it would be possible to feel normal and anxiety free so I will always be thankful to Stuart for helping me get over these issues and I would recommend anyone with the same type of problem to please give Stuarts hypnotherapy sessions a go as the results will be life changing. "

William , Birmingham Sept 2016

"As I mentioned in my last email, I had a drink for the first time in over a year and things were completely different like you said they would be. It's hard to explain but I will give it a try. When I used to touch a drink before, I would always develop the same binge pattern of drinking that would last for weeks or even months in which I would drink and drink until I was extremely ill, paranoid and penniless. As soon as I would start drinking I would drink at speed with just one thought in mind, about where the next drink was coming from. Once I was drunk I would always buy more booze so that I could drink again in the morning. I always had an overwhelming urge to do this no matter what. Even if I thought about not letting one drink turn into a binge beforehand, once I was drunk all these plans would go out the window. I would always feel sorry for myself and guilty, which would make me drink even more. This would obviously spiral out of control as my anxiety would go through the roof. But this time the urge to drink more had completely gone. I was totally in control of my drinking and did not feel the compulsion to drink more. It sounds so simple but I just felt in control and at ease with it. I feel confident now that I can enjoy a drink like a normal person which is a massive thing in my life. I don't have to worry about falling into a dark hole again. Thank you again for your help."

"As a 20 year smoker, a session with Stuart gave me the additional tools and willpower to finally stop. I have to say that the work we did together has enabled me to adopt a significantly healthier lifestyle. I have recommended Stuart to several friends and have had nothing but positive feedback. " David Feb 2016

"Having seen the success that Stuart Downing achieved with a friend in Lanzarote.  I decided to book an appointment.  One session later and I have been smoke-free for over 2 weeks with minimal cravings.  I feel confident that this is for good.  Thanks a million.  Jackie" March 2016

"I had smoked cigarettes since my late teens.  I did not think that I could ever give up smoking.  I was conscious that I was missing out on activities with my friends.  Precluded from going inside anywhere.  So, whilst in Lanzarote I contacted Stuart Downing to arrange a consultation.  I thought that I would give hypnotherapy a try.  Much to my amazement it worked.  For the first 3 days I had longings for a cigarette every now and then but would use Stuart's technique to combat those feelings.  All my friends are also suitably amazed that Stuart in their eyes has performed an absolute miracle and there is a queue forming to follow in my footsteps – for once!   So after smoking for 47 years, I am now an ex-smoker.  Have no aching muscles and I feel 5 years younger." Liz K March 2016
"Hi, I went to eventually went to see Stuart when I realised and finally admitted to myself that there was a problem. I think I was just like everyone else with an addiction, I’m alright, I can stop when I want it’s not a problem…. but it was…I hadn’t realised just how much money I was losing, a gambler only ever remembers their wins so you think your doing ok…I’d get up in the morning and my first thought would be to reach for my phone and check odds for the day, it could be anything racing, football, tennis, anything at all because gambling becomes an addiction just like drugs….i would bet on anything, even if I didn’t know anything about the sport or race or runners, I just liked the buzz of being involved. With the internet so readily available and numerous online bookies I could bet any time anywhere on anything at all…if I lost I would be straight away trying to recoup my losses and if It didn’t work out for me I would get angry and bet again and again until I won but generally you don’t get all your money back so then it’s I’ll just have one more bet…it wasn’t until I’d maxed out on my credit cards that I was forced to do something, so I called Stuart, he made an appointment to see me very quickly and just listened, whilst I admitted my failings and finally asked for help, the techniques he’s used to help me really worked over time I’ve managed to get on top of my addiction, his fast intervention has helped me regain my life, self respect and I’ve removed my gambling fix…sometimes it can still be a battle but Stuart is always available and by using the techniques and method he has given me I’m able to really enjoy life again without feeling the need for a bet."
