About me

I have been working with people who have stress/anxiety, fears and phobias, confidence  and self worth issues, for a number of years. I have helped them to over come many issues, and to help them come to terms with things that are holding them back, enabling them to go forward into the future, with confidence, feeling good about themselves.

I can see you either in my office or online

As well as my private practice.

I volunteer at Cherry Lodge Cancer Care Centre, which is over seen by 2 McMillan nurses. After having cancer a number of years ago myself and come out the other side still smiling, I now also help others who have been diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones, from diagnosis through their medical treatment and beyond.
I also volunteer helping Frontline workers, (Consultants, doctors and nurses) through their various traumas due to the recent pandemic.

Each member of APHP has received thorough training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, is competent and conscientious, and abides strictly by a code of ethics.

There are four grades of membership: Licentiate (LAPHP), Registered Member (MAPHP), Accredited Member (MAPHP(acc.)) and Fellow (FAPHP), with the different categories standing for different levels of training and experience.

The Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy is a member organisation of UKCHO (an umbrella body for the hypnotherapy profession in the United Kingdom).

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Some Testimonials received:-

Dear Renie,

As a doctor (GP), I felt sceptical, even suspicious about the use of complimentary therapies. Unless there was a tablet I could throw at the situation, I wasn't interested.

That is, until, I found myself in the unfortunate (though enlightening) position of being the patient, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I started seeing Renie at my local cancer support centre upon the suggestion of a Macmillan nurse. I was highly anxious and felt very bleak at the time. When I started hypnotherapy with Renie, I was surprised that the effect was dramatic and immediate, but also cumulative. I found the experience positive and calming and left each time with a sense of wellbeing. I continue the visualisation techniques at home even now.

Renie tailored each session to my evolving needs and concerns. I had mentioned, for example, that I had a particular fear of general anaesthetics and this was making the lead up to my mastectomy even worse. She suggested a session of BWRT in the week before my operation. As i left the session i felt grateful Renie had tried to address the issue, but was not convinced it would help. To my amazement, I lay on the operating table 5 days later feeling completely calm!

I am now waxing lyrical to my doctor colleagues about the advantages of this sort of therapy in the holistic treatment of the whole person. I could not have hoped for a better therapist than Renie. She is sensitive, positive, professional, and approachable- a calming voice of hope during a very tough time.

Hello Renie

I wanted to write and thank you, for well changing my life. I don’t think you will ever completely understand what you have done for me.

I have suffered from a needle phobia all my life and simple blood test would reduce me to panic and tears, I would be sobbing like a child and hyper-ventilating just with sheer panic over the thought, even driving to the doctors I would start to cry just knowing what was to come.

In 2012 I was diagnosed with Breast cancer the next year would be picc lines chemotherapy blood tests operations and injections, yes !  All I could think about was how many needles and how was I going to cope through the needles the cancer worry was almost secondary.

I came to see you as you talked me through a technique which you thought might help. I was all ears, anything to help me get over this I was a 44-year woman crying like a baby something had to be done!  I understood the theory BUT after all these years I wasn’t convinced words and one session was ever going to be so life changing.

After one session with you where we address the needle phobia I said I have a blood test in 2 days, off I went to the hospital no tears on the journey then I had my tissues ready and nothing…………… no tears, no panic!!!! To be honest after the blood test was done I cried with tears of joy so the tissue did come in handy.

Unfortunately, the end of last year I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer and yes again, here we go with the pic lines, CT and MRI contrast cannulas, blood tests and I am happy to say I face them all without a tear the stress I went through had all vanished the journey to the hospital no tears, I am still having on going treatment but I can say not a tear has been shed no needle panics nothing.

So again, I would like to thank you and I truly mean it you have changed my life in such a way I am able to deal with a needle so I am calmer and that’s a huge benefit to me and my medical condition, as they say stress is never good for you.  I would say to any one however big or small their phobia or panics are to visit you as you are truly a life changer and I for one will never be able to thank you enough

Paula

Hi Renie,

Thank you very much for your help. I am enclosing a testimonial for use on your website.

I came to see Renie for help with confidence and dealing with anxiety issues stemming from the past. I had an initial consultation and and then three other sessions. In the first session I was taught a tapping technique to deal with anxiety, I found it very useful to have a physical technique to focus on when I found myself feeling anxious. Interestingly I have only had to use it a couple of times so far.

For the second session I had some timeline therapy which I had not heard of before and found intriguing. I really enjoyed the process of this therapy especially the visual imagery in my minds eye, and I felt that it was a very therapeutic technique dealing with five different key emotions. I do feel as if I have put to rest the negative effects of these emotions stemming from my past.

The most enjoyable by far was the hypnotherapy session to instil confidence. I felt the most truly relaxed I have felt for a long time. I have done meditation myself but having someone’s voice to listen to was extremely relaxing. I also enjoyed the visual imagery during this session.

I would highly recommend visiting Watford Therapy if you want to invest some time and energy into yourself and help yourself deal with personal issues.

Thank you Renie.

Hi Renie,

I hope you are well? Sorry it's taken a while to come back to you, I've been in lovely Spain!

Recommendation:

Before having Watford Therapy sessions I knew what my goal was, but I wasn’t sure of how to get there. Renie was thorough and touched on a lot of areas to ensure she could best understand how to help me achieve my goals.

As she offers such a wide range of services, she could use different techniques to achieve the best results and find which one worked best for me.

We ended our sixth session on hypnotherapy and that, coupled with other different sessions, achieved amazing results and I feel so much better; I would thoroughly recommend her services to anyone.

Hi Renie.

As promised here is how I did yesterday.

I was drawn out against Suffolk’s best placed player in their team. After feeling sorry for myself I started to practice and felt really good going into my game.

I play outstanding in the first 2 legs to go 2 up. I had a chance to win 3-0 but missed and the next thing I knew it was 2-2. Now the old me would have dropped my head and lost but I stayed positive and played a great last leg to win 3-2. I felt so calm up on that stage.

Let's hope this is the start and I thank you for all your help.

Thank you again for your help.

Regards

Steve....
