About me

Hi, I’m Neil and I am a Wellbeing Expert. I'm a specialist in stress, anxiety, and depression.

I will help you to break free from that fog of mental confusion and overwhelm and upskill you so that you become your own therapist, so that you can take back the reigns of your life moving forward. I offer in person & online sessions.

Does this sound like you?

  • Do you feel overwhelmed and burnt out?
  • Do you struggling to concentrate with your thoughts spiralling out of control?
  • Do you feel exhausted, emotionally flat, and distant from loved ones?
  • Do you no longer feel confident because you are not so good at things anymore?
  • Do you no longer get any satisfaction from the things you used to enjoy doing?
  • Do you go to bed exhausted, sleep straight through, and yet still wake up exhausted feeling like it's Gorundhog Day again?
  • Or, do you struggle to get to sleep, over analysisng things, and wake up to that uncomfertable sense of dread?
  • Do you say to yourself, ``It's all my fault, everything’s ruined, it’s never going to change!”

If so, I can definitely help you!

You see, it was my own experiences of mental health difficulties, anxiety, depression, stress, and addiction, that eventually led me into the field of Therapeutic Cognitive Behavioural Change work.

Addressing my own issues lead me through a process of extremely deep and meaningful change. This is where my passion for guiding others through the process of meaningful changes stems from.

Since resolving my own mental health issues in 2014, I have consistently been educating myself in the field of psychology and human behaviour in relation to mental ill health. This has provided me with invaluable in-depth knowledge around mental health at all levels, from mild to severe.

I am also a published author in some of the world's leading academic research journals.

Publications example:

Neil Dolan, et al., (2021). Effectiveness of stress control large group psychoeducation for anxiety and depression: Systematic review and meta-analysis. British Journal of Clinical Psychology.

Alongside this, I have been consistently working in the field of cognitive behaviour change work across various settings including schools, community teams, adult addiction rehabs, a specialist family rehab, and complex psychological needs services.

I currently work part-time as a Therapeutic Worker in residential rehabilitation. I find a great sense of satisfaction and connection when working with people to resolve their current dilemmas, helping people to cultivate new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.

I believe in taking a person centred approach to therapy, treating the person not the condition, focusing on your personal needs, wants, desires and goals.

We can all struggle at times to deal with the many day to day stressors of life or specific traumas. We can easily start experiencing difficulties which can lead to negative patterns of thinking and numerous difficult symptoms, such as anxiety, fears, stress or even addictions. These issues can often lead to relationship and work difficulties.

Together, we will explore what has brought you to therapy and address any psychological mechanisms which are maintaining your current issues. My aim as a therapist is to help you to change the way you perceive your situation and the way you relate this to yourself.

I offer a free 30 minute consultation prior to your first session. This is for you to make sure that I am the right therapist for you as it is essential that you are comfortable and confident with the therapist that you choose.

The therapeutic working alliance (between you & therapist) is the biggest single robust predictor of successful treatment.

I am passionate about helping my clients to move forwards quickly and effectively with their lives, independently and successfully beyond treatment.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions or require further information.
