About me

We all struggle with things like unhelpful habits, excess weight or unnecessary pain, whether that's emotional or physical.

10 years ago, for the best part of that year, it was all I could do to shuffle around my house. There I was, someone who had been used to enjoying multi-day solo hillwalking trips, now suffering with a back injury that left me unable to sit, stand or lie anywhere for more than a few minutes.  Not only was it excruciatingly sore but also, with a possibility that the situation may not improve, the worry that this was going to be the best I could be, terrified me.

Now I look back, I was incredibly lucky to be offered a self-hypnosis audio at the NHS chronic pain clinic at Golspie as part of my treatment programme.  I have to confess that even though I really wasn't convinced it could make a difference to me I decided to listen to it just to be a good patient. Two short week s later and I'd moved to needing only 2 tablets a day, down from the whopping 28 a day I had been taking before my visit to the clinic. (I did this with my GP's support). I knew I still had to have a procedure to sort the injury but the single biggest change for me was in my mind.

I listened every day to the audio and absorbed the subliminal messages within the self-hypnosis and found that the more I practiced the hypnosis techniques, the easier it became to focus on a sensation of comfort, and the pain that had once felt overwhelming just faded into the background. It took some work on my part but the relief was indescribable.

Fast forward to summer, and back to full fitness, I was feeling very content and grateful as I sat outside my tent one evening on my first hillwalking trip.  There and then I decided to study hypnosis so I would be able to help others like it had helped me.

Back to now and I'm delighted to share that in the years since that decision I've been so lucky to work alongside amazing clients, just like you,  who have committed to overcome their biggest challenges, who have gone on to do things they thought they'd never be able to do.

Thanks to all these people, their commitment to change and their successes, I've received a rating on review site '3 best rated' as one of their 3 top hypnotherapists for the Highlands in 2021.

So what can I offer you

What is it you want? If you want to change habits, shift belief systems and increase your confidence so that you can move forward, then I'm here to help you with a combination of hypnotic techniques and coaching strategies so I can support and guide you on your very own journey.

In the first instance just get in touch, you get a free call with me to talk over your situation to see where you are right now and where you want to go next. (**Please note that if you ask for a reply by email and you don't hear from me within 24 hrs, check the junk folder in your email account. Sometimes your first email from me  ends up in there and needs to be moved to your inbox)

As we're still in the grip of Covid I'm being as flexible as possible and am offering online appointments (yes, it's exactly the same as in-person, we get the same results!) and if you'd prefer you're also welcome to come for face-to-face hypnotherapy appointments near Inverness and in Aviemore.

Evening and Saturday/Sunday appointments available.

See below for how each option can work for you.

Due to the relaxation in Covid regulations, I am delighted to share that I offer appointments in Aviemore and near Inverness. In order to maintain the highest standards, please do a lateral flow test before coming to your appointment and if you are experiencing any Covid symptoms please rearrange your appointment.

I’m also continuing to work online as this has proved to suit most people, however I want to offer the best service I can to all my clients and have decided to offer an option for those who prefer to come to see me.

As always, my work is solution focused for whatever you need to change and you are welcome to call me for a free, no obligation chat about how I can best help you.

My online clients attend their Zoom appointments from anywhere from their living room, their bed, their office and even sitting parked up in their car! (I'm told it's a good option to escape the family and car seats are supportive) and often comment on how much more relaxed they feel being able to choose their own place to enjoy their sessions, rather than having to sit in someone else's office.

I've adapted some techniques for online work to keep our sessions interactive so that you're involved in the process. This, after all, is the way that hypnotherapists such as myself, continue to learn and practice with our teachers and mentors from all around the world.

While you're here, I invite you, before you even decide to go ahead with hypnosis as the way to make the changes you're looking for,  to take a look at my video on this page. There you can find out more about me and what I can offer you and then visit my website to download your free Take Ten to Relax audio. You can find it at: www.mindovermatterscotland.co.uk

Since starting  5 years ago, I’ve helped people from all over the UK.  Now many of my new clients come to me via referrals from friends and family after I've helped them overcome their own issues and because I want to make this as easy as I can for you, I offer a free initial consultation with no obligation.  This lets you talk about that thing that's been bothering you up till now and it gives you the opportunity to see how I can help you, with no obligation, even before you decide to book a session or package, so feel free to pick up the phone, pop me an email or message me on facebook to find out more. I'm here to help.
