About me
Hi, I’m Colette and I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist. I can help you to tackle the stressors of modern life including anxiety, depression, insomnia, self-confidence and self-esteem, weight management, additions, phobias and much more using safe and gentle relaxing therapy to help you to work towards a more positive future.
At the Hope Hypnotherapy Clinic I use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy techniques which is a ‘talking therapy’ and a combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis. The psychotherapy enables me to work with you on your individual goals to find solutions and combine this with hypnosis, which enhances the effects of the psychotherapy. I also include the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming.
Solution focused therapy focuses on the future. There’s no dwelling on the past and I use my client’s own strengths to help them move forward quickly. The essence of Solution Focused Brief Therapy is to have a conversation focused on your best hopes and to explore in detail your preferred future. A future where your hopes have been achieved. We then work together to identify the possible resources and strengths that you have within you in order to to attain that future.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), which is the Gold Standard in Hypnotherapy Training and is an externally accredited qualification and a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.
I am a highly experienced practitioner having 25 years experience in the NHS as an NMC registered nurse and school nurse working as a public health practitioner with children, young people and families to support them to make positive choices and improve their life chances. I have extensive knowledge of a range of mental health concerns including Perinatal and Child and Adolescent Mental Health and have trained in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare during my career.
I have a particular interest in gut health and can support clients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend hypnotherapy as a psychological therapy for the treatment of IBS
I have also completed further training Perimenopause and Menopause in order to support women through this period of their life.
I am fully insured, Enhanced DBS checked and registered with the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists (AfSFH), and the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy).
