Hypnotherapy can be utilised successfully for many different reasons. It can be used to reformat your thinking on how you view challenges. Let’s look at just some of the many ways hypnosis can improve your well-being and help you live a fulfilled life.

Phobias

There are some people who accept their phobias and assume there is no hope and that they will never be rid of their fear. They go through life limiting what they can do or where they can go always afraid they will have to come face to face with their fear. Depending on the phobia they restrict their enjoyment, curtailing many opportunities simply because of what ifs. What if I go on an aeroplane and it crashes? What if I take my child to the park and there is a dog there and it jumps up on me? What if I find a spider in the bathroom and it bites me? What if? What If? What if? And yet…the rational part of you knows that air transport is the safest way to travel. That most dogs are friendly and on leads anyway, and that spiders will scurry off away from you and don’t bite. Those unfortunate people with a full-on phobia even feel nervous and their heart rate goes up even just looking at a photograph of their nemesis.

The only two phobias we are born with are sudden loud noises and falling. The rest have manifested from an experience whether remembered or not. Perhaps as a three-year-old a dog jumped up at you and barked, and from that day on you have feared every dog. Or you were at a birthday party and someone popped a balloon at your ear unexpectedly and now you cannot go near one. Many phobias have been passed down through the generations and are a learned behaviour. If your mother screamed blue murder every time a spider appeared on the wall, the chances are you too will fear them as you would have also followed her out of the room and assumed they were something to fear.

Living life excessively

Do you want to get rid of some excess weight? Or perhaps you want to quit smoking? Are you gambling too much? Most people rely on willpower to achieve their goals; however, the majority may fail as they have limiting beliefs they will ever succeed, or accept that this year will be like all previous years and only half-heartedly apply themselves. If they do not change from within and change their behaviours then they will get the same results they get every year.

Self-development

You may want to apply for that job you have always wanted but lack the confidence to do so. You are desperate to ask a question at the office meeting but keep quiet in case you somehow make a fool of yourself. You may feel on edge all the time and want to learn how to relax and feel less anxious.

Hypnotherapy can be used for many different challenges, so if you want to change your life for the better then why don't you give it a go? Hypnosis guides the person into a state of deep relaxation which allows the therapist to work on the unconscious mind without interference from the critical conscious mind which often unwittingly sabotages any efforts to improve performance or allow change. If the person knows they have always failed in the past to give up smoking then the conscious, critical mind will remind them of this.

Here is an A-Z of just some of the challenges hypnosis can deal with. Some are common challenges we deal with every day and some are more unusual. The list is endless, so if you are not sure whether hypnosis can help with your particular problem – just ask! And if you are scared of rejection and don’t like to ask – guess what? We can help you with that too!

Arachnophobia – the very common fear of spiders.
Bruxism – grinding teeth
Coulrophobia – the fear of clowns
Depression – A debilitating illness which can make life feel it’s not worth living
Eating disorders – Both anorexia and bulimia can be addressed

Hospitals – White coats is a fear in its own right
Insomnia – The worries of the day exacerbated at night when you are alone with your thoughts
Jealousy – Overcome with emotion perhaps of insecurity or humiliation
Kakorrhapiaphobia – fear of failure
Limiting beliefs – perhaps a harsh upbringing has led you to believe you are no good,
Menopause – A group of symptoms affecting middle aged women
Nyetophobia – fear of the darkness especially common in young children
Obsessions – An idea or object that preoccupies and intrudes constantly on a person’s mind
Public speaking – The number one fear
Quit smoking – An addiction that can be cured if the mind-set is addressed
Relaxation – This can benefit all areas of your life
Sports performance – This can help you achieve laser focus
Trypanophobia- fear of needles
Unwanted – A sense of being no good and neglected, little self-esteem
Vicarious trauma – Long term exposure cause by constantly empathising with victims
Weight -  Probably one of the most popular issues therapists come across especially in today's image conscious world.
Xenophobia – a deep rooted irrational fear against foreigners and strange objects
Yes – Always afraid to get out of your comfort zone and saying yes to trying new things
Zoophobia – a general fear of animals.

“Don’t be afraid of your fears. They’re not there to scare you.  They’re there to let you know that something is worth it.”
