Summer struggles that last all year round

Perhaps you are having a wonderful summer break. But the summer holidays are not all ice cream and paddling pools for everyone, and not for anyone all of the time. Not everyone can afford a summer holiday. Far from it.

With the cost of living crisis, the fuel crisis, soaring interest rates, and a towering poverty epidemic, the UK is seeing child poverty and household poverty not seen since the world wars. With such poverty undoubtedly brings an untold mental health crisis.

This mental well-being poverty is in all age groups, all demographics, and all social classes. Nobody has escaped its grip. And it can be a deathly grip.

Sadly suicide rates are on the rise, as are the numbers of people suffering from the aftermath of the global pandemic. Eating disorders, PTSD, panic, anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol addiction, trauma and long covid, and more are on the rise.

In clinic, I am seeing more and more people affected by these issues and conditions, both young and old, and everyone in between. And sadly, alongside this doctors, nurses, and mental health services are in decline, burnt out, leaving the profession, and not taking on new patients.

What can we do to help?

Clinical hypnotherapy, now officially recognised, researched, tried, tested and proven to help eradicate and combat these issues and conditions, is now widely available across the UK, as well as overseas and around the world.

Specialists in all fields are available, whatever your particular issue or needs.

Sessions can take place face-to-face, in clinic, one-to-one or group sessions, as well as virtually, online, and across the globe.

If you, or someone you know, needs help this summer, or at any time of year, please seek help. Please do not suffer in silence. Help is available.

What can help today?

If you are struggling today, then follow these five easy steps for some light relief before you can get the specialist help you need:

1. Read some of the other articles on Hypnotherapy Directory and in Happiful magazine to gain tips and hacks, and to really see how much help is actually out there. There is a lot!

2. Listen to a podcast or audiobook to lift your spirits. BBC Sounds is absolutely free. And you will find many more resources here on Hypnotherapy Directory.

3. Use all of your senses to feel fully alive today! Read, look, watch, listen, hear, smell, sniff, touch, stroke, taste, savour, enjoy... When we use all of our senses we truly come alive and breathe.

4. Yes breathe! Yes, you will have heard this so many times before, but the power of breath is magical. Long, deep breaths... Repeat, repeat, repeat...

5. Nature, nature, nature... Yes, another one you will keep hearing about.

Please get outside into nature. Trees, plants, wildlife, ponds, rivers, becks, lakes, waterfalls, city gardens, window boxes, allotments, parks, recreation fields... wherever you can find.

Please keep in touch, reach out, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

If in doubt, and in need of medical assistance please call your GP or dial 999 for emergencies.
