One big fat reason to lose weight
Really? I hear you say, only one?
Well guess what, that is all you need. One big fat reason to lose weight. You need your big fat reason to lose weight! You have to find your reason why.
You wouldn't start a journey without a destination in mind would you? Nor would you go without making any arrangements for the journey? What about petrol in the car? You don't want to run out and have to return home do you? Have you had the car serviced? You don't want to break down. What about a map, or sat nav so that you know where you are going? What about booking a hotel? If the journey is long enough you will need to break your journey so that you don't become too tired to continue. I'm sure you are starting to get the picture. You have to make the arrangements so that you can get to your goal! So, why do you want to lose weight? What is your compelling reason? Why do you choose to lose weight?
Maybe you are fed up with having a wardrobe full of clothes that don't fit you? Sometimes even shoes?
Perhaps there is an event coming up? A wedding where you will be on show in front of your friends and family? (Or maybe it's your wedding?)
A special holiday, where you would like to look good on the beach?
You might be a new mum, who would like to be a yummy mummy!
Sometimes you might decide that your health is suffering or you are tired all the time. You get aches and pains that you are sure are because you are heavy.
Or maybe you just want to get rid of a problem area such as stomach, hips or thighs.
There are as many reasons why people want to lose weight as there are people!
Sadly sometimes weight loss chooses you. There are many compelling reasons for weight loss to choose you. Maybe you've had a heart attack, stroke, or other illness that the doctor has advised you to lose weight. Diabetes is one of the most important reasons for losing weight, because the benefits to help with the illness are so great.
Many of my clients come to me with no idea how to start. Habits that have taken a lifetime to become ingrained, now have to be revised and rethought. Maybe you have become so heavy that you are in constant pain? You know that you have to lose weight but your many attempts so far have not ended well. Basically you have had no plan. No route, nothing that you felt able to manage with long term. Most of the time you don't even know why you want to lose weight!
Well it's time to decide why you want it! Time to make a commitment to yourself! Time to make it happen!! But first you need a plan!
Do you keep starting with unrealistic goals? Do you keep beating yourself up for failing? Well it sounds like you need a better plan! You need to start believing in yourself. You can do anything you put your mind to if you have the right tools. And first things first, you need to know why!
