About me

I am a fully accredited and regulated member of the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) and hold registration with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) which allows me to register with the only government accredited body for complimentary therapists: The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you find the site easy to navigate and understand the services provided within it. If in doubt - please contact me and ask any questions you may have. I would really love to hear from you.

Around 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem yet the shame and silence can be as bad for a person as the mental health problem itself.

The main objective of Have A Word is to educate and support people - understanding the importance of our mental health by providing in person and remote, flexible services.

I am an ADHD-brained female entrepreneur, based in St Albans, Hertfordshire and created Have A Word in 2018 whilst I was working for a large airline, part-time.

I have had a passion for people and psychology for as long as I can remember - I find us all fascinating! Working within the aviation and travel industry for sixteen years gave me a lot of opportunities to work with difference.

I recognise and appreciate the uniqueness of us all and promote social inclusion whilst embracing individuality. It is with pride that I sit alongside the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ community to promote self-empowerment, happiness and confidence.

You have the power to change your life for the better - embrace your difference.

To all clients past, present and future, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you. Thank you for being part of my life story so far.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist to not only add value to the work I already do with clients surrounding their mental health challenges but to help introduce people to alternative healing and complementary therapies.

It isn't always the easier thing to do; talk about all the distressing issues out loud.

I have particular interest in helping people manage their anxiety and stress, but also encourage healing from pain and trauma. Hypnosis is a state of mind, or an altered state of consciousness. Hypnosis is a natural state which occurs regularly in everyday life - when day dreaming, when watching a film, when about to fall asleep.

During hypnosis many people display improved communication between the conscious and sub conscious mind. It is characterised by an openness of mind which is receptive to suggestion. Whilst hypnosis is a natural state entered into throughout our day, it can be induced - or brought about.

Member organisations

CNHC
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Further information

Private Health Cash Plans are increasing in popularity and can offer additional health cover for individuals often at minimal monthly cost.

Policies can be funded by an employer or purchased by an individual for themselves or for their family. They work by processing claims for reimbursement for healthcare costs not funded by the NHS or private medical insurance policies. Each company offers different levels of coverage, which reimburse for costs of varying therapies to set annual limits.

Below is a list of known Private Health Cash Plan providers that recognise CNHC registration for reimbursement:

  • Medicash
  • Elect
  • Paycare
  • Westfield Health
  • Simplyhealth
  • BHSF
  • Health Shield
  • Benenden
  • The Health Insurance Group
