About me

Dr Kerry West, MBBS, MRCGP, PGCert.(ClinHyp), GQHP
As a fully qualified doctor, with twenty years' experience in the NHS, Kerry has a deep understanding of medical and psychological issues. Fully qualified in Clinical Hypnotherapy to post-graduate level, she now combines the two skill sets to create a truly complementary therapy, benefiting enormously from the in-depth knowledge gained throughout her career as a hospital doctor, Paediatrician and General Practitioner.
Practicing from a quiet and discreet part of Stratford upon Avon, with easy parking and full accessibility, Kerry will make you feel at ease within moments of meeting. Kerry holds a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and has further developed her skill set to include Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Coaching, Counselling, Mindfulness, Brief Solution-focused Therapy (BSFT), Positive Psychotherapy and also EFT, and NLP (master practitioner). She is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and registered with the General Hypnotherapy Council (GHR) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Kerry is happy and able to help with many physical issues (for example: pain management, irritable bowel syndrome -IBS, tics, tinnitus, skin problems....) psychological issues, (for example: anxiety, phobias, stress, depression, eating disorders, insomnia, low self-confidence, anger, fear of flying...) and behavioural issues ( smoking, food- or diet- related, addictions, compulsions, habits, alcohol consumption...).

In addition to treating adults, Kerry is also very happy to see teenagers and children                                                                                                                      (from age 5/6 years)

Several Private Health Insurance companies will now fund therapy from Dr West...                                                                                                                     ....please ask

Note: Dr West's current practice is in Complementary Medicine having taken the decision to no longer practice as a medical doctor. She should not to be seen as replacing any existing medical provider, and will not write prescriptions. She is, however, happy to take referrals from, or to liaise with, GPs and consultants when appropriate.

Why not contact Kerry for an initial chat about how you or your child could benefit from her treatment?

CNHC
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

info Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Dr West is very happy to treat children. Some of the things which can be helped by hypnotherapy include:

Anxiety
Nerves
Sleep problems
Night Terrors/ Nightmares
School and other phobias
Bedwetting
Tics and Tourette's
Behavioural problems
Performance nerves
Exam nerves
School refusal
Trichotillomania

Dr West combines hypnotherapeutic techniques with behavioural, supportive and solution-focused advice, guidance and coaching, thus offering an almost unique holistic approach to some very stressful and worrying problems.
