The reasons people come to see me:

People visit me for many different reasons. It may be that they are suffering from stress, anxiety or panic attacks and are finding certain tasks or activities difficult to carry out. They could have a fear or a phobia about something which is restricting their enjoyment of life. Some people find being in social situations difficult and need help with their confidence and self-esteem, Others may wish to lose weight, change their eating habits, become fitter and healthier or stop smoking. Addictions, OCD’s, exam nerves, problems conceiving a child, worries surrounding childbirth and being unable to sleep are also common issues. Most people assume that their problem is unique and that nothing can be done to help them. This is not true at all, Hypnotherapy can be a very effective treatment in dealing with anything that is troubling you or limiting your life. Childhood or past trauma's can also affect us as adults, many people seek Hypnotherapy as a means of helping them to overcome these memories and to move forward with their lives.

My Specialist areas:

Although I deal with many different issues on a day to day basis I do have a special interest in Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Panic Attacks and Phobia's. I am very proud to be an approved therapist working for Anxiety UK. This means that individuals who have contacted Anxiety UK for support are often referred to me for treatment. In addition to this I specialise in Hypnobirthing, Infertility, Addictions, OCD's and Weight-loss, and I am a licensed practitioner for the world famous Hypno-band weight loss system.

A bit about me, my career and background:

I worked in the care industry for many years and managed Domicilliary care agencies and care homes within the sector. This provided me with a wealth of knowledge and experience in caring for individuals with physical, mental and emotional difficulties. I spent a lot of time working with people with Huntingdon's Disease, Acquired Brain Injuries, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health conditions such as depression, General Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Bi-Polar and Schizophrenia. This eventually led me into the training sector where I qualified as a teacher in further education. I spent many years assessing, verifying and developing the NVQ Health and Social Care programmes offered by Pearson Edexcel, City and Guilds and NCFE.  I have always had a special interest in how the mind works and how complex it can be.  I then decided to qualify as a Clinical Hypnotherapist with the Kent College of Hypnotherapy. I am also a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and NLP practitioner.  My qualifications are listed further down the page.

I have also personally experienced how frightening Anxiety can be. About ten years ago I suddenly starting having severe panic attacks and found it very difficult to leave the safety of my home. During this time I was unable to carry out normal every day tasks and I remember feeling isolated, scared and lonely. I didn't understand what was happening to me and I felt very worried about the future. I was then diagnosed with a Thyroid condition and this was responsible for my anxiety and panic disorder. My condition was treated and I made a full recovery. However, this experience played a large part in me wanting to work with, and help other people who are living with all aspects of anxiety and panic disorder. I find it very rewarding to support people and to show them how they can overcome their anxiety issues.

My journey through life so far has shown me that life is not always as smooth as we would like it to be. I also know that with the correct help and support we can overcome our difficulties. I very much enjoy helping and supporting people to lead happy and fulfilling lives and to reach their full potential.
