About me

  • Amanda George Hypnotherapy
  • Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist
  • MA, MAfSFH, MNCH (reg), MCNHC (reg), GHR (reg)

Passionate about helping people overcome obstacles so that they can get the best out of the one life they have.

A little bit about me.  I have always, for as long as I can remember, taken a great deal of pleasure in helping people which resulted in me retraining in my late 40s and going to university for the first time eventually graduating with a degree and then a Master of Arts in Personnel Management.

Not long after getting my first role in HR, I also started to work for a well-known weight loss organisation and I did this for five years helping people shed the pounds and seeing them gain in confidence as they did.  I know from personal experience just how hard it can be to firstly lose those excess pounds (63 of them in total), but more importantly to keep them off.  I am also very well versed in eating disorders having suffered with bulimia since my early 20s but which has been under control following Cognitive Analytical Therapy, so I have real experience that therapy which involves the mind can work.

Keeping fit is also a passion which inspired me when we came out of the first Covid lockdown to start a Couch to 5k running group within the village.  This led onto me to eventually running the Loch Ness marathon in 2021, which given I’m in my later years was quite an achievement, but it just goes to show you can do anything if you really put your mind to it!  I decided when I crossed the finish line that it would be my last and that I would retire on a personal best!

In 2022 I start to think again how I could help people and read about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.  This just seemed a perfect solution to not only help someone change their life but to also give me an immense sense of satisfaction knowing that I have helped someone change their life for the better.

I trained with the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) gaining my Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and which is recognised as the Gold Standard in hypnotherapy training.

I am fully insured and possess an enhanced DBS check.  I am also registered with the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and also the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) abiding by their strict code of ethics.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy with the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) which is a gold standard in training for hypnotherapists and also hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma which is awarded by the National Council for Hypnotherapy.

As required I am fully insured and possess an enhanced DBS certificate and abide by the strict codes of conduct that are in place for all the associations that I am affiliated to.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

AfSFH
Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH)

The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) was set up to provide information about a modern form of Hypnotherapy and its associated benefits to members of the public. The main aim of the AfSFH is to spread awareness of the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Its secondary aim is to support Hypnotherapists in their businesses by encouraging good practice and self-care.
