Can hypnosis really help your insecurity?

Insecurity leads to a number of issues in life. You may take a step back when it comes to showing off your skills at work and be overlooked for promotions. In love, you could be missing out on Mr or Mrs Right. It’s time to get over the insecurities, so you can really enjoy your life and see success.

The question many people have is just how to do it, is there a quick fix to help? Some people turn to hypnosis for a number of psychological issues and it may be possible that it helps your insecurity.

Before overlooking it, you need to consider the truth about hypnosis. What does it entail and how could it help you?

Working on the subconscious mind

Hypnosis isn’t that trick you see on stages around the world. It’s not magic and doesn’t involve mind control. There is a science behind it and it is considered a form of therapy for many. That’s because it puts you in a state that your subconscious mind can be affected positively. When this happens, you will start to feel more confident in yourself because your subconscious mind - the one that you don’t really think about - takes over.

The aim is to change the way you think and feel about situations. This therapy puts you in a relaxed state so your subconscious mind can be reached. Whether you do it through a hypnotherapist or opt for self-help options, the mind starts to change negative thinking for positive thinking. Rather than thinking that you “can’t do” something, you think you “can” and you “will.”

Understand your reasons

Part of hypnosis is changing your current thoughts. That means you need to know why you’re insecure. To make sure this works, you really need to understand the reasons behind your self-consciousness and low self-esteem. It’s important to understand just why you don’t accept compliments so well and why you tend to shy away from showing off your skills.

As you understand more, you will be able to understand your thinking more. You get to the negative issues. It could be fear of rejection, jealous thoughts or even having obsessive thoughts. They can all play on the mind and affect the subconscious mind considerably. Your hypnotherapy can help you change the negativity around these issues, so you can become more positive in thought.

The power of suggestion

Hypnosis works because it is about the power of suggestion. You’re reaffirming the positives inside. The only reason you’ve developed negative thoughts is due to situations life has put you in. Everyone is born with a positive mindset.

There are different ways that hypnosis can help you. Some people find that positive affirmations help. They are often through someone else telling them and then they tell themselves. However, you may need to visualise, which could involve using images or thinking about yourself in certain situations.

Give it time to work

This isn’t something that will work overnight. You won’t get one session and suddenly feel much better. Remember that this doesn’t involve magic or mind control. It takes time to change the subconscious mind.

Think about how hard it can be to get out of routines. That’s because they’ve become something you do without necessarily thinking about them. Piano players sometimes just know where their hands go on keys without thinking because playing a piece of music is routine. Drivers do things out of habit, such as reaching for the stick to change gear or checking mirrors before changing lanes.

That means you need to give hypnotherapy time. How much time will really depend on you. Some people will find that it works much quicker than others. Others will find that it takes a lot longer, because they’re not open to it working at all. Unfortunately, hypnosis doesn’t work on everyone.

Hypnosis does work for insecurity. It’s all about changing your mindset; changing the negative for the positive. It just takes time and that is time that you need to give yourself if you want to succeed. Remember, you’re working on your subconscious mind, where the routines and habits have formed.
