About me

Hello and thank you for reading my profile. I am described by my clients and those who know me as being calm, warm, friendly and approachable. In the 20 plus years of therapeutic work, I have always been blessed with repeat custom, in both the private and statutory sector. Most of my clients visit me because of their overwhelming anxiety or trauma. I also help people deal with relationship breakdowns, their confidence and stress. I think being open and kind does encourage individuals to trust and respect me and they do recommend me to their friends. Wouldn't you want to return to a therapist like that?

My sessions vary in length, depending upon the client. They usually last around 60 minutes. The first session is around 90. I take the time to get to know my clients and give them the space they need to talk about their problems. Then I use the hypnotic trance to help them create change in their thoughts, feelings and subsequent behaviours.

Do you want to get over a past trauma that is too painful to speak about? This is possible with the "Rewind" technique I am trained to use. You can successfully remove the power that this experience has been having on you, without speaking about it.

One of my clients was a 16 year young man who spoke only a hand full of words in our sessions. He was also unable to tell me exactly what the 'big issue' was that caused him severe social anxiety. Despite never vocalising the exact 'personal flaw' he believed he had, we worked together and his severe anxiety (HADS) that was a symptom of his 'belief set', returned to normal after a few sessions. Thankfully he was once again able to enjoy time out with his friends and have fun again.

What should you expect in hypnotherapy? Can you be hypnotised? Will you tell me your deepest darkest secrets and how much money you have in the bank? Will I be in control. These are some concerns clients have. You remain in control and won't reveal anything you don't want to.

After a friendly chat, where I get to know you and what you would like to work on, I ask you to sit comfortably with your eye's closed. I then use some techniques to relax you and then I do some work on teaching the deeper part of your mind (what I term the subconscious mind) a new story.

For example, do you have a phobia? Are you afraid of spiders? If the answer is yes, you may tell yourself in your mind, how scary spiders are. You may remember the first time they ever made you feel afraid. You may keep the windows closed in summer (despite the heat) incase they climb in the windows. Sound familiar?

What I do, is work through those memories with you (before the trance) and then 'tell your mind a new story' in trance, where the spiders are no longer threatening. Because we are working with the deeper mind, the story becomes embedded and it's like your mind's 'new perspective on spiders' that feels like a natural change in your thoughts. The fear then reduces to a comfortable level. In some people, it totally disappears. An 11 year old girl I worked wth had a severe dog and cat phobia, causing severe panic. After only 3 sessions with me, she was able to have a pet herself.

Can I hypnotise everyone?

You could resist and prevent me from being hypnotised yes. But, why waste your money. If you come to see me for hypnotherapy you are looking forward to getting rid of thoughts, feelings, experiences or memories that are ruining your life. Sounds dramatic I know, but that's usually how bad things have become when we decide to make a change, isn't it so? You may have come to see me to quit smoking, or lose weight. Or give up other bad habits that are affecting your self-esteem.

Are you too far to travel to my clinic in Hull? Are you in another country? Would you find it difficult to see me in person? That's absolutely fine because I work on line too. How? Skype, Zoom (password protected), Microsoft Teams. You sit in the comfort of your own home and we do the session on line. Whether you are face to face or online, I will offer you a recording (no extra cost) to listen to afterwards (if you wish). I have clients worldwide whom benefit immensely from this service.

Call me for a free telephone consultation. No obligation, only a chance to ask questions and see whether my voice would be calm and warm to listen to.

Email if you prefer to ask questions that way.

As a person, I am spiritual and carry out daily grounding exercises of a humanistic persuasion. Because of my faith I am very open to and respectful of the faith of other individuals and I work with all members of the community.

Although I am only fluent in English, I have many clients from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I am told by many non-native English speakers, that I speak clearly and am easy to understand. I believe my personal experience living within other diverse cultures and in homes where English was not the first language (except for myself) I have an ability to understand individuals with a strong accent and perhaps developing English skills. So feel free to make contact.

See additional information for services offered. Some conditions may require medical supervision and if so, I will advise this accordingly.

Take care and I hope to hear from you soon,

Suzi xx

Additional information

The free consultation is around 15 minutes on the telephone or online.

After the initial session (at £60), I am willing to offer 3 x sessions for £111 after this (can be paid weekly). This is helpful in cases of weight loss, anxiety cases.

After 4.45pm (unless you have booked the 3 x £111, I charge £60 due to working unsociable hours.

Why do I charge these prices?

I am an experienced practitioner with a high level of education, training and CPD. There are also various costs for registered practitioners such as:

Insurance, DBS, CPD, Membership of Governing Bodies, Marking, Books, Supervision, Technical Equipment, Website Management, Rental cost and general bills etc.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, we can discuss a price reduction (Ts&Cs apply).

The £60 in the first session reflects the extra time spent information gathering. This allows us to do hypnotherapy in the first session.

Some concessions offered to NHS, Veterans, Students and low income families. Proof may be required but please feel free to enquire.

Unlike other therapists, I charge by the session, not the hour. So, if we run slightly over the 60 minutes, I don't charge for this.

Receipts provided for Health Insurance purposes.

When I work

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun

Night

I am flexible in my working hours.

Appointments after 4.45pm are £60 a session (unless the 3 x £111 has been paid for). This is to reflect working unsociable hours.

Further information

I use a person-centred approach to therapy. I am a solution focused practitioner and use your goals, building upon your own resources to bring about change.

I am also a qualified and experienced energy healer. I am trained in Reiki and intuitive Pure Energy Healing, and Interference Clearing methods of energy healing work.

Clients who tend to consider themselves spiritual find my sessions beneficial. But, I trust that you will be able to sense my energy if you are energetically sensitive, and can easily intuit if I am the right person for you.

I work with clients who have experienced a significant amount of trauma, particularly from the veteran community. So I work with humour, compassion and a light hearted approach.
