About me

Hi, I’m Sophie Burch (HCBT, GQHP).

Thanks for landing here.  I know its a big step deciding to look for therapeutic help and I want you to know I'm here for you.  No judgement. A huge part of successful therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist, so lets have a chat to see if we click first, before diving into anything?

Here's a bit of info about me:

I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, and I specialise in women’s mental health, the menopause, the perinatal period, anxieties, fears and phobias, depression, chronic pain and trauma. I offer confidential, non-judgmental therapy. You are unique and we will work together to bring you back into balance, whatever that means for you.

I am human and have my ups and downs too so I practice what I preach daily to stay on track.  For you, I will take a person-centred approach; know what it’s like to wrestle with mental ill-health - and to overcome that struggle. I’m dedicated to helping people make the necessary changes to become "themselves" again, or a new, more balanced version of themselves if that’s what it takes! Everyone is unique, and I use my knowledge, expertise and experience to craft a therapy plan to suit each individual depending on their needs and of course, budget. I work face to face, or online, daytime or evenings to suit you.

I love helping people find ways to overcome stress and anxiety, reaching their full potential, increasing self confidence and self esteem and putting their fears aside. Often in just a few sessions.

Although trained clinically, I will also take a less prescriptive, more holistic approach to each individual if necessary and the testimonials and results speak for themselves.

How does it work?

Get in touch for a quick chat to see if we can work together.  If you wish to continue, you will book in for a consultation and initial therapy session which lasts 90 minutes.  We will talk, do some detective work of your past or any issues you wish to look into and I will devise a plan to help you through using suggestion, relaxation and hypnosis.  There are no pocket watches involved with me.  Just a safe place to be heard and emotionally held. After which, depending on you, we will have a further 2-3 sessions or continue as long as you need. Each session is 75 minutes and is online or face to face in one of the three clinics I work at in Ramsgate, Margate or Whitstable. You usually go away with handouts and mp3's to keep you going between sessions and through life.

Therapies and Techniques:
I offer Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT) and Mindfulness therapy, or combinations of both. I focus on techniques that are evidence-based and deliver real success when tailored to you. If you don’t necessarily need therapy, but would like another approach, such as coaching, we can work together to make it work for you.

My approach:
I am dedicated and passionate about empowering and guiding you to achieve the things you want, make the changes you need and live your life in the way you most desire. It is not about relying on me as a coach or therapist, but about helping you learn the tools and techniques to become the person you want to be. It’s about finding your balance and keeping it for life; or finding ways to get it back when life slings you a few curveballs, as it inevitably does.

As a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, the techniques I use are recognised as both safe and highly effective. If you visit my Ramsgate, Margate or Whitstable therapy rooms you’ll see I love books and always having something to research or refer to. You’ll probably spot key Clinical Hypnosis texts such ’Hartland’s Medical and Dental Hypnosis’ through to books by midwives and obstetricians (‘Mays Midwifery’, my specialism is women’s health) or a personal fave, ‘Mindfulness for Women’ by Vidyamala Burch and Claire Irvin.

Training, qualifications & experience

My relevant Experience and Qualifications:

2009, Hypnobirthing (HypnoBirthing Institute)

I’ve worked with Hypnosis in Childbirth for more than 10 years with 100’s of couples in pregnancy, birth and parenting, 1:1 and groups.

I've actually been helping couples antenatally and postnatally since 2005 when I qualified in IAIM Infant Massage in London and then qualified in Hypnobirthing.

I believe and take the principle that BELIEF + MOTIVATION = TRANSFORMATION.

I currently work from my home in Ramsgate, and clinics in Whitstable and Margate or online via Skype or Zoom and will travel to you at home if you are local and can't get to me.

Let's work together to help you feel balanced and back on track again.
