About me

Hi, I’m Sophie Burch (HCBT, GQHP, CNHC).

Thanks for landing here.  I know its a big step deciding to look for therapeutic help and I want you to know I'm here for you.  No judgement. A huge part of successful therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist, so lets have a chat to see if we click first, before diving into anything?

Here's a bit of info about me:

I'm all about NURTURE and what that looks and feels like to us all uniquely. When we are nurtured we thrive, when we are not, we develop mental and physical ill health. I appreciate that many of us don't have much nurture in our lives (or at least what we need), and so learning to do this for ourselves can be hard but is non negotiable in the world we find ourselves in.  It's also very rewarding because it gives us confidence and courage to seek better relationships, resources and skills externally to achieve what we set our hearts and minds to and THRIVE, not just SURVIVE.

I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist and HypnoCoach, and I specialise in:
Chronic Gut Health (IBS, Bloating, Pain, etc),
Confidence & Imposter Syndrome,
Purpose, Goals & Aspirations,
Relationships,
Peri/menopause,
The Perinatal Period & Parenting,
Anxieties,
Fears and phobias,
Depression,
Chronic pain
Trauma & PTSD
Childhood sadness and unhappy patterns
Food addictions
Alcohol dependency
Sleep disorders.

I offer confidential, non-judgmental therapy. You are unique and we will work together to bring you back into balance, whatever that means for you.

I am human and have my ups and downs too so I practice what I preach daily to stay on track.  For you, I will take a person-centred approach; I know what it’s like to wrestle with mental ill-health - and to overcome that struggle. I’m dedicated to helping people make the necessary changes to become "themselves" again, or a new, more balanced version of themselves if that’s what it takes. Everyone is unique, and I use my knowledge, expertise and experience to craft therapy or coaching sessions to suit each individual depending on their needs and of course, budget. I work face to face, or online, daytime or evenings to suit you.

I love helping people find ways to overcome stress and anxiety, past issues, unwanted habits, sadness, poor relatiohsnips and reaching their full potential, increasing self confidence and self esteem and putting their fears aside. Often in just a few sessions.

Although trained clinically, I will also take a less prescriptive, more holistic approach to each individual if necessary and the testimonials and results speak for themselves.

How does it work?

Get in touch for a quick chat to see if we can work together.  If you wish to continue, you will book in for a free connection call (15-20 mins online), and if we click, then an initial therapy session which lasts 60 minutes.  We will talk, do some detective work of your past or any issues you wish to look into and I will devise a plan to help you through using narrative, suggestion, relaxation and up to 35 different psychotherapeutic techniques to suit you.  There are no pocket watches involved with me.  Just a safe place to be heard and emotionally held. After which, depending on you, we will have a further 2-3 sessions or continue as long as you need. Each session is 60 minutes and is online or face to face in Broadstairs (Thanet, Kent), or online. You usually go away with handouts and mp3's to keep you going between sessions and through life.

Therapies and Techniques:

I offer Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT). I focus on techniques that are evidence-based and deliver real success when tailored to you. If you don’t necessarily need therapy, but would like another approach, such as and Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, Mindfulness and more we can work together to make it work for you.

My approach:

I am dedicated and passionate about empowering and guiding you to achieve the things you want, make the changes you need and live your life in the way you most desire. It is not about relying on me as a coach or therapist, but about helping you learn the tools and techniques to become the person you want to be. It’s about finding your balance and keeping it for life; or finding ways to get it back when life slings you a few curveballs, as it inevitably does.

As a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register and CNHC, the techniques I use are recognised as both safe and highly effective.
