About me
Are you struggling with anxiety or unhelpful thoughts? Do you have fears or phobias affecting your quality of life? Have you an unhelpful behaviour or habit that is holding you back? Perhaps struggling to lose weight? Or experiencing insomnia? You have IBS and don't know what to do to get relief from symptoms? I can help.
This is me in my garden outside my clinic room. My clients say I have a calm, empathetic manner. I’ll listen carefully and give you space to talk about your issues and goals. I have personal experience of IBS and anxiety so I have an understanding of what you might be going through. Imagine feeling calm, comfortable, rested and confident. Imagine being free of discomfort and able to eat the foods you want and wear the clothes that make you feel good. Imagine you’re free of unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy can help you reach your goals and feel better.
What to expect and booking an appointment
To book an appointment, I recommend booking a call to make sure I’m the right practitioner for you. After we’ve had a chat, if you’d like to book, we find a date and time to suit and I send a little paperwork and an invoice via email. Sessions are typically weekly. You can pay as you go or book a package. Each session begins with time for you to talk in a safe space. Sometimes I will use some cognitive behavioural techniques here. We then have a hypnosis session of about 20-30 minutes and then we talk afterwards about how it went. We talk about homework (usually listening to a recording) and perhaps further plans for treatment. The hypnosis itself will vary depending on your goal or issue but is typically a bit like a guided relaxation and visualisation. I will explain more about it in the phone.
Hypnotherapy sessions take place in my clinic room in Leckhampton, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire or online via Zoom.
More about me and how I work
I am an insured clinical hypnotherapist, registered with the GHR. I practise cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy and specialise in anxiety, IBS, sugar addiction, and behaviour change. I practise hypnotherapy in person in Cheltenham or online via Zoom. Additionally I’m a registered nutritional therapist and I have ten years’ teaching experience. I’m also a mum of two teens. I can empathise with those of you juggling busy lives.
What is cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy?
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy is an evidence-based therapy integrating hypnotherapy, cognitive, behavioural therapy and mindfulness. I use cognitive and behavioural tools and techniques, along with teaching some mindfulness practices to provide a further layer of support and therapy for my clients alongside hypnotherapy, tailoring it to your needs.
Hypnotherapy for anxiety
Hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) are both recommended treatments for anxiety by the NHS. I practise cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy which uses cognitive and behavioural techniques and tools, where appropriate, alongside hypnosis, making it an effective therapy for anxiety. Hypnotherapy alone is a powerful treatment for anxiety. Please feel free to contact me for a free chat about how I might help.
Hypnotherapy for unhelpful behaviours and habits
I support clients who feel anxious, lack confidence, or are stuck with unhelpful thoughts or behaviours. Hypnotherapy is effective for supporting unhelpful behaviours and habits, such as those around healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. I support clients looking to follow a healthier lifestyle but are held back by unhelpful thoughts, behaviours or habits. I also offer hypnotherapy with health coaching or nutritional therapy to help clients with making changes.
Hypnotherapy for weight-loss
Hypnotherapy can support weight loss from varying perspectives. First of all, if you are trying to make diet and lifestyle changes, hypnotherapy can help alleviate some of the anxiety and overwhelm that this may cause. Hypnotherapy may also help to uncover some of the barriers to change. we might explore some unhelpful behaviours, habits or thoughts that might be getting in your way. Some of my clients feel they are addicted to sugar or have a habit of snacking. Other clients can see that emotional eating is getting in the way. Hypnotherapy can help you to overcome these obstacles.
Hypnotherapy for IBS (gut-directed hypnotherapy)
Hypnotherapy is recommended by NICE as a complementary treatment for IBS and it follows a protocol called gut-directed hypnotherapy. I have trained in gut-directed hypnotherapy and this powerful therapy can also support other issues such as stress and anxiety. I am also a registered nutritional therapist so I can also provide another layer of support (nutritional therapy or health coaching) if desired.
Hypnotherapy for fears and phobias
Hypnotherapy is well known for supporting people with fears and phobias. We explore your worries, fears or phobias and use cognitive and behavioural techniques to uncover any underlying issues or unhelpful beliefs or patterns of behaviour. In hypnosis, we can safely explore your fear and build up tools and confidence so that you can live your life without being held back. Please feel free to ask me for more information.
Hypnotherapy combined with nutritional therapy or health coaching
I am also a CNHC and BANT registered Nutritional Therapist specialising in IBS and anxiety. In addition to hypnotherapy for IBS and anxiety, I also offer an exciting combined service of hypnotherapy and nutritional therapy or health coaching for issues such as IBS, anxiety, weight loss and more. I have trained in gut-directed hypnotherapy (GDH), which is backed by much research and is recommended by NICE guidelines as a treatment for IBS and is recommended by the NHS.

Client testimonials
"I really enjoyed the hypnotherapy sessions we had together. I found them very relaxing and helpful. I felt they taught me to think differently and respond differently. It has been a few months now and I still use some of the techniques if I feel anxious to overcome a situation. I felt you were especially good at listening to what would work best for me and understood the impact it had on everyday life. The recordings were extremely helpful and something I can continue to use. I would definitely recommend you, thank you..." Dawne
"Hypnotherapy with Kate has encouraged me to express myself positively, focusing on solutions to help imagine my preferred future, including a more positive perspective on quality of life and kinder self-talk. I am delighted that I found the right person and method to help me, I wish I'd done it sooner. Thank you so much for your help and support." Tania
"...Kate has a warm, calm personality that instantly put me at ease: it was easy to talk to her about my problems and identify how to move forwards. The hypnotherapy was very relaxing and effective in sessions, and although I haven't yet faced the situation I've been working on yet, I feel much more positive about it." Charlotte
“What a find! Kate was everything I could have asked for. So far the hypnotherapy is paying dividends. Found her to be very understanding & would have no hesitation in recommending her. Did like the cosiness of her consultation room. I felt no pressure & was totally relaxed as soon as we met.” Tom
