About me

Recovering after a divorce/relationship breakdown? Menopausal symptoms? IBS? Anxiety/depression? Not sleeping too well? Negative self talk? If you don't want to feel the way you are anymore and want to try and improve things, then feel free to get in touch and we'll discuss how Hypnotherapy can help you. In person sessions, in a lovely, modern therapy room in Ilkley and also online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with CPHT Leeds and have a diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

I am a member of the AfSFH and the CHNC.

I adhere to codes of conduct and I have regular supervision with a supervisor, along with CPD (continued professional development).

I have an Enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a mainly present and forward focused therapy.  In understanding how our mind works, we can work with it, to help bring about the positive changes you are wanting to make. This is to say I will explain how our minds work and you will most likely have a "Now I get it", realisation. We will work together to understand and find a better way forward for you.

We can become so caught up in our own thoughts sometimes, that we might not see how things could be different. We feel we want things to be different but we don't know how to bring about that change. If you engage with the process, I aim to help you find out for yourself, how things could be different. How you might cope differently. How you might enjoy your life more. I offer a safe, caring and supportive space.

Thanks to recent times we know that Hypnotherapy can be effective Online as well as Face to Face. I offer online and Face to Face appointments.

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH)

The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) was set up to provide information about a modern form of Hypnotherapy and its associated benefits to members of the public. The main aim of the AfSFH is to spread awareness of the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Its secondary aim is to support Hypnotherapists in their businesses by encouraging good practice and self-care.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

I specialise in divorce (/relationship breakdown). I see individuals to help them at their stage of their divorce. There’s 3 stages to divorce as I see it: Do I divorce? Doing divorce. Done divorce.
Having been through a divorce myself I know how the emotions and practicalities involved can feel overwhelming. At times I really struggled with my stress levels and suffered anxiety. I found hypnotherapy quite late in my own divorce journey and it really helped me cope better and take back control to empower myself moving forward. I aim to help you with your own well being at this time of change.

(Please be aware this is not the same as counselling, it provides a space that is mainly present and forward focused. Also, much as it might be our natural desire to blot out pain, I don’t erase a person or events from your memory).

Perimenopause/Menopause. Hypnotherapy can help you cope better with the symptoms, and can help reduce their severity.

Testimonials from clients:

“I was quite sceptical about Hypnotherapy to start with, but went with it and put the work in. It has really helped some of my peri-menopause symptoms. I will definitely keep practising the techniques Jane has taught me”.  “Jane is empathetic. Jane is an excellent practitioner and has helped me immensely”. - Dawn.

“I started to see my anxiety levels come down gradually and that was what I had hoped for. But the unexpected part was when I naturally started to incorporate the tools and knowledge I had gained into everyday stressful situations. And the best part of all is that these tools are mine for life”.  “Jane was friendly, caring, professional and empathetic. I found her to be very professional. I looked forward to our sessions so much. She really has worked wonders for me and I can’t thank her enough.” - Jane.
