About me

If you are thinking about making some changes in your life, and if you feel you need a helping hand, I can help you find a way through. I know it's a cliché but you really have made the first step already. Take a few minutes to read a little more, and if you think I can help, just let me know.

I can help with anxiety, stress, Covid-related issues, weight problems, low mood, phobias, and smoking/vaping cessation.

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS SPECIALIST.  RELATIONSHIP AND COUPLE COUNSELLING.

I have over 30 years of experience with Addictions, Dependencies, and related fields, working with a wide variety of clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures. In addition to Alcohol and Drug problems, many of my clients have been seeking help for Anxiety and Stress, PTSD, Relationship difficulties, Phobias, Confidence issues, Weight Management, Weight Loss, Weight gain, and Smoking Cessation.

I have received specialist training to help with IBS.

I am qualified to use the Rewind Technique to help with PTSD.

I have trained in Family Therapy and Relationship Counselling.

Over the last few years, Covid-19 has impacted all our lives in many ways. Many of us have been left with the effects of experiencing the virus first-hand, devastating loss of loved ones, financial and/or employment difficulties, or even all of the above.

Alcohol and drug consumption has reached ever higher rates, increasing during the various lockdowns and remaining at problematic levels for many.  If this is you, or someone you care about, please get in touch.

I have been able to help many of those who are worried and anxious about returning to work, not returning to work, being around others, being alone, worrying about simply staying safe, and many other fears for the future. Please know that help is available. I can be contacted by phone, text, or email.

I have developed and managed an integrated Hypnotherapy approach that includes aspects of Solution Focus and Motivational models, and elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

All that might sound a bit complicated but, to be honest, it can be quite simple really. We talk things over for a bit, look at the changes you want to make, decide between us if I might be able to help, and take it from there.

There is no great mystery to Hypnotherapy. Nothing to be afraid of. No one can make you do anything you don't want to. You won't reveal any secrets you don't want to either. TV stunts are nothing to do with Hypnotherapy. In all these years I've never seen anyone cluck like a chicken but I've seen plenty make positive differences in their lives.

I have considerable experience working with clients experiencing alcohol and/or drug-related problems. These may be associated with your own use or that of someone close to you. CALL FOR FREE CONSULTATION.

Member organisations

APHP
Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (APHP)

Each member of APHP has received thorough training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, is competent and conscientious, and abides strictly by a code of ethics.

There are four grades of membership: Licentiate (LAPHP), Registered Member (MAPHP), Accredited Member (MAPHP(acc.)) and Fellow (FAPHP), with the different categories standing for different levels of training and experience.

The Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy is a member organisation of UKCHO (an umbrella body for the hypnotherapy profession in the United Kingdom).

CNHC
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

NCH
National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)

The National Council for Hypnotherapy holds one of the largest registers of independent Hypnotherapists in the United Kingdom and strives to maintain the highest standards among its members.

There is an agreed Code of Conduct, an established Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure and all members are obliged to maintain comprehensive Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance, maintain regular CPD (continuing professional development) hours, and attend Supervision when needed.

Further information

I decided to become a Therapist many years ago following a struggle to overcome some of my own issues. I experienced a few different therapies before eventually finding my way through. I was very lucky to get the right kind of help at the right time for me and I am still here today, still standing.

I had the benefit of many Counsellors and Therapists along the way, some very good, and perhaps some that were not ok for me. I took myself off to University and specialised in Dependency issues. I trained in Psychodynamic and Systemic models, worked as a Counsellor and Trainer for a few years before eventually developing the Integrated Hypnotherapeutic approach as a baseline for my work nowadays.

I believe that as we are all individuals, with individual and varied needs, there is no one - size - fits - all to the kinds of help and support we often need. I aim to provide a person-centered approach in working with all my clients, enabling them to find and use their own resources to help them make the changes they wish for in their lives.
