Hypnotherapy for phobias and fear
We are all born with a natural instinct to be fearful of loud noises and falling. This is nature’s way of protecting us.
However, over time we can develop fears and phobias by experience, or by learning how our parents or guardians react. An experience of something that scares us can cause the brain to interpret that thing as a threat (regardless if it is or not). When it experiences that thing again it kicks in the freeze, fight or flight mode. This can result in people running away, avoiding scenarios in which the thing is more likely to occur and living a life always on the look out for that perceived threat.
The other scenario is learning from others. For example as children we look to parents or guardians on how to react to different scenarios. You have all seen it when children fall over and they look at the adult for a reaction. If the adult is concerned the child often cries, if the adult laughs it off the child carries on like nothing has happened. This can be the same for phobias. For example a spider crawls across the floor and a child will be curious and investigate. But if an adult reacts in a scared way to the spider, perhaps even grabbing the child and pulling them away, the child will learn this thing must be bad and can develop a fear of it too. That’s why often people have the same fears and phobias as their parents.
Each time we experience the object / scenario of our fear our brain fires up its usual response, it tells us this thing is still a threat. No matter what we consciously tell ourselves, this has now become a subconscious problem.
This is why hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be so effective. Through hypnosis we can talk directly to the subconscious and change the way you act, feel and behave towards the phobia or fear. Sometimes within minutes. Most people believe they are just scared of things and nothing will change that. Perhaps because you have had it for a long time. It does not matter how long you have had it. You learnt this phobia or fear in an instant and it can be unlearned just as quickly. It may take 5-10 mins, it may take 45 or even a few sessions. Everyone is different.
It’s also not guaranteed but hypnotherapy has a high success rate with phobias and if this sounds, feels or looks like something you may be interested in contacting a hypnotherapist today. It may just change your life.
