What is cognitive hypnotherapy and how can it help?

It’s important to understand what cognitive hypnotherapy is and how it can help you.  Why is it different from other talking therapies? The reason why cognitive hypnotherapy is so fast and effective is that it helps the past, present and future versions of you.

I am interested in how you experience your issue, how it hijacks your mind and/or body and alters your day. Everyone experiences their issues differently and it’s important to me to adapt my sessions and the techniques I am trained in to reflect your needs and help you strive towards reaching your goal.


What is happening? 

Primarily, it is important to find out what is happening in your life, why have you got in contact? Maybe your relationship or work is suffering, perhaps you are experiencing heightened feelings of stress and anxiety and you feel like you need to take action before it gets worse or there’s an impending deadline that needs to be addressed. 

I work with you to identify the underlying belief or issue that is causing this problem. Our goal is to use unconscious techniques to get to the source of the issue faster and challenge it so that it no longer has the power to hijack your thoughts and behaviour. This, in turn, can help you feel more in control of your choices, thoughts and actions.


What can you do in the moment?

There is often a ‘habit’ element to our issues. We have been carrying them around for a while so get used to being a certain way. In order to break the habit, I will help you to challenge your thoughts, try new ways of being and become receptive to new thoughts, behaviours and opportunities. I teach you a range of tools and techniques that you can use in the moment to help bring down levels of anxiety or feel more positive about the future. You will finish our sessions with a unique, empowering tool kit which you can use in future situations to help you gain control.


How would you like to be in the future?

I believe that if you are able to imagine yourself behaving differently eg. getting on the plane, being in a loving relationship or talking to groups of people then it’s easier to get there. In our work together we explore what this future can look like, what to do, how to act, and what you value and believe about yourself, I will help you to see this version of yourself.  

We feed what we focus on so, by priming the conscious to see this version of you then you begin to realise that this version of you is not only possible but probable. This will also help us to map out what steps need to be taken to get there a little faster. 


What next?

I believe that by tackling an issue in this way, helping clients overcome their limiting beliefs and allowing them to see past this into a future version of themselves: confident, happy and powerful as themselves - lasting change can occur.
