About me

My name is Sophie Holmes and I am a fully qualified (DipCHyp, GQHP, PGCE, BSc) clinical Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist and Hypno4Children practictioner. I work with adults and child to overcome anxiety, stress/overwhelm, low self-esteem and confidence, negative body image, lack of motivation and weight issues and more. I am based in Greater Manchester and Online.

My journey into this field was deeply influenced by my personal experience. At the age of 28, I was diagnosed with ADHD, after years of self-doubt and uncertainty. I know what it feels like to question your abilities, struggle to manage life, and wonder if you're simply not good enough. Living with undiagnosed ADHD, I faced the hurdles of anxiety and low self-esteem, experiencing firsthand the impact they can have on your life and well-being.

The good news is that you don't have to continue just surviving; you can thrive. I'm here to help you break free from whatever is holding you back. No more settling for a lifetime of feeling inadequate – embrace your true worth.

My Approach:

I employ an Integrative Therapy approach that combines tailored techniques and tools to meet your unique needs, goals, and lifestyle. My expertise lies in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH), an evidence-based therapeutic approach that offers effective solutions for a wide range of problems. It is backed by scientific research and stands as the primary evidence-based approach to hypnosis.

Unlike traditional 'trance' methods, CBH focuses on psychological factors like imagination, suggestion, and expectation. In essence, CBH is about guiding you, the client, to leverage the power of your own mind during hypnosis to bring about the changes you desire, fostering self-belief and enabling lasting positive change.

Additionally, I incorporate techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness to enhance your ability to achieve rapid and lasting change. Instead of dwelling on past traumas, CBH concentrates on current issues, utilising a heightened state of suggestibility during hypnosis to accept positive suggestions.

Think about what it would be like to feel confident and in control every single day. How would that change your life? What new things could you achieve?

I specialise in supporting people with:*

  • Anxiety & Stress Management
  • Overcoming Negative Body Image
  • Increasing Self-Esteem, Self-Worth and Confidence
  • Overcoming Limiting Beliefs
  • Increasing Motivation
  • Weight Issues & Eating

Are you ready to take back control and live the life you deserve? Get in touch today and see how I can support you on your journey to positive change!

I look forward to working with you :)

Sophie

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, which I earned at the highly esteemed UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. This diploma is deeply rooted in a modern, up-to-date, evidence-based approach that integrates hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. The qualification I received is subject to rigorous assessment and is externally awarded by the government-regulated body NCFE.

I am registered with the GHR and ACCPH. I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS.

I haven't always been a therapist, in fact for the past 5 years i have been working as a teacher (main in primary and SEND). My love for teaching children was accompanied by growing frustration with the limitations of the education system.

This frustration began to take a toll on me, leading to stress, anxiety, overwhelming moments, a sense of isolation, and a plummeting self-esteem. Eventually, all of this took its toll, significantly impacting my life in a negative way. This is when I knew I had to leave.

My initial encounter with hypnotherapy dates back to my university years when extreme exam stress threatened to derail my degree. Desperate for a solution, I turned to a hypnotherapist who equipped me with the invaluable tools to reframe my thoughts and behaviours, ultimately enabling me to navigate those challenging exams successfully. This transformative experience left it's mark on me, and a persistent inner voice told me I needed to help others in the same way she had helped me.

There are so many things around you that you can't control... but you can control your actions and reactions. Take control of your life and experience positive change.
