About me

Hello, and thank you for viewing my profile. I am a skilled hypnotherapist and educationalist with a passion for helping adults and adolescents overcome the obstacles in their lives. I have a specific interest in anxiety, panic, anxiety management, confidence and resilience building, weight loss and weight management, and stress management.

I can also help with:

  • exam preparation
  • driving test nerves
  • public speaking and presentation nerves
  • low self-esteem
  • fears and phobias
  • school phobia and refusal

All sessions are non-judgemental, confidential and in a safe environment.

I have a passion for mental health and wellbeing, something which I developed over my 17 year teaching career. As an experienced leader with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership (M.Ed Cantab), I witnessed first-hand the debilitating effects of anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem in students and staff alike. My desire to better support my students and colleagues led to my studying for a professional diploma in hypnotherapy and initial counselling skills. The transformative potential of hypnotherapy to help people find deep relaxation, self-soothe, change mindsets, develop, grow, and overcome obstacles, is fascinating and rewarding to see.

I work with adults covering a broad range of issues, habits, weight loss and management, phobias, fears, anxieties and stresses. My work with adolescents (Year 6 and above) may help your child with school based anxiety, exam worries, driving test nerves, common childhood fears such as the dentist, swimming, and separation anxiety, stress, and navigating change. I firmly believe in empowering each client with a toolkit to navigate life and their presenting issue as they move forward beyond therapy. I also have experience of working with neurodiversity in adolescents and adults, with a specific interest in ADHD and its varying presentations.

If you want to seek meaningful change to anxieties that are holding you, or your child back, get in touch.

”I cannot believe the difference our sessions have had. My base level is calmer, I feel able to manage my general anxiety and have much more confidence in the workplace. I’m putting myself forward for job interviews and I would never have done  that before.” (EP, Herts)

"My daughter was able to go to the optician this week and let her eyes be examined.  This was unthinkable a few months ago." (BL, Herts)

“I’ve tried to lose weight so many times - coming to Jo was like a last attempt. She helped me realise that I had little confidence in myself to achieve the goal I wanted so we worked on building my confidence up to have the life I really wanted. I’m nearly 5 stone down. I’m thrilled. It feels completely different to any weight loss I’ve done before. This feels like I’m really living.” (AC, Herts)
