About me

I practice Cognitive Behavioural Therapy combined with hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy are each proven effective psycho-therapeutic approaches. When used together, treatment has been shown to be even more effective and long-lasting than either individual method.

In our therapy we (you and I) focus on the present and the future. We focus on the beliefs, feelings and thoughts that are causing you problems now. These can be difficult to identify by yourself because the endless repetition of them becomes automatic. When confronted by a certain event or situation, we think A, we feel B and we do C. Every single time.

Together we can identify these negative, unhelpful responses, get rid of them and in their place put positive, helpful responses, that open the way for real and lasting change for the better.

We work together to improve your life quickly and ensure you have the tools, the skills, and the resilience to make that lasting change, so I will give you useful exercises and tasks in between sessions for you to cement and grow your accomplishments in session.

I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy which is accredited by the British Psychological Society, the National Council for Hypnotherapy, the General Hypnotherapy Register and the Register for Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. I am also accredited by the CRSST, the Central Register of Stop Smoking Therapists.

I live in Essex with my lovely partner and 3 wonderful children. One of whom has an incredibly rare genetic disorder (which keeps us on our toes).

I used to suffer from anxiety and depression and was a heavy smoker from the age of 11. Hypno-CBT changed all of that and now I'm free of anxiety, depression and cigarettes. I am dedicated and passionate about offering this possibility of real, lasting change to others. Do get in touch. It could be the best thing you've ever done.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with the highly respected, UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy (UKCHH). It is the only training course in the country recognised by the British Psychological Society, due to its rigorous adherence to evidence-based practice who taught me the purely science-based application of Hypnotherapy combined with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Which I use in my practice today.

I am fully insured and registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register, which means I am bound by their strict code of practice so everything we undertake in therapy remains strictly confidential. It also obliges me to continue my professional development. This means I am always learning more about the latest techniques and developments in my field so that I can give my clients the best, most up-to-date service possible.

I am also a stop smoking specialist accredited by the CRSST, the Central Register of Stop Smoking Therapists.

Member organisations

CNHC
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Accredited register membership

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

  • Fear of choking or suffocating
  • Fear of vomiting
  • Fear of fainting
  • Fear of loss of bladder or bowel control
  • Fear of losing control
  • Fear of Physical illness
  • Agoraphobia (The fear of being in situations where escape might be impossible or that help wouldn’t be available if things go wrong).
