About me

I’m Dr Gareth Thomas Chartered Psychologist, Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist, and founder of Adapt Mental Health. I am a solution-focused therapist dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of individuals young and old and in various settings. I am a disabled veteran and a wheelchair user who was diagnosed with PTSD since being discharged from the military (army). I can empathise with veterans and disabled/able-bodied people as I have lived knowledge and experience. Finally, I am married and have an older son and a grandchild.

Therapies

My solution-focused approach to therapy is modern and evidence-based. It actively encourages focus on the positive aspects of life.  I am qualified in a range of treatments including solution-focused hypnotherapy, solution-focused brief therapy (talk therapy), and brain-working recursive therapy.  This approach recognises strengths and capabilities and encourages engagement more in social activities and interactions, ultimately improving quality of life.

I live life to the full and so can you.

Initial consultation

I offer an initial 30-minute session so that we can have a chat about your situation and decide which is the best therapy for you. I’ll explain how your brain works so that you understand specific problems and associated feelings, behaviours, or symptoms.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Degree: PhD Health Psychology
  • Diploma: Hypnotherapy, Clifton Hypnotherapy Practice 2023
  • Diploma: Brainworking Recursive Therapy, Terence Watts BWRT Institute 2023
  • I completed my training at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
