My name is Elaine Bradford and I run Elaine Bradford Hypnotherapy, which is a clinical Solution Focused practice based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire and a practice in Harley Street, London. I also work online and specialise in supporting people feeling overwhelmed, suffering from anxiety and stress. I am passionate about the solution focused approach and have seen it change many lives.

Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with CPHT (Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training) and hold a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD).
I am registered with the NCH and the CNHC and am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS.
I also hold a Level 3 in Counselling and have wide experience of helping others change their mindset leading to all sorts of inspirational changes, giving them the tools to make fundamental changes and aspire to change.
We can do nothing about the past and the future is not written. The only thing we have power over is the moment we are in now, hypnotherapy helps you to make the right decisions to move forward in a positive way, allowing you to take control of your thoughts, your mind and therefore your life.

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.
In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.
A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
The National Council for Hypnotherapy holds one of the largest registers of independent Hypnotherapists in the United Kingdom and strives to maintain the highest standards among its members.
There is an agreed Code of Conduct, an established Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure and all members are obliged to maintain comprehensive Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance, maintain regular CPD (continuing professional development) hours, and attend Supervision when needed.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

What is solution Focused hypnotherapy?
It is unique and highly innovative. A modern up to date approach based on neuroscience. It is a highly effective and safe form of talking psychotherapy combined with guided relaxation – hypnosis.
In the sessions we work on moving forward positively and becoming the best version of yourself, without the need to revisit the past.
Who will Benefit?
I see people from many walks of life who are struggling with a range of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress and anger. Stemming from these symptoms can be other things such as OCD, IBS, Panic attacks, low confidence, anger and insomnia to name but a few. The more committed and willing you are to engage in the therapy process the more you will benefit.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, people are often surprised that they can hear every word and could get up and walk out of the room at any moment if they so chose. Unless you enter a deeper state, you may not feel any different, just very relaxed.
It is similar to drifting off to sleep at night. You can feel a sense of weightlessness or heaviness as you totally relax. It is very much like that stage when you are not quite awake and not quite asleep. Everyone experiences it differently, and I will be able to reassure you and help you relax and enjoy the experience.
Hypnosis is just a special focus of your conscious and unconsciousness mind bought about through relaxation. When we are in the state of trance we have access to the subconscious mind that enables us to make positive decisions and move forward in life. You just sit back listen to the sound of my voice and relax.
Can it do me harm?
No hypnosis is very safe. Hypnosis is deep relaxation with guidance from the hypnotherapist as to where your subconscious mind needs to focus. There is nothing harmful in relaxation. Most people receive great benefit from the experience and find it very pleasant and relaxing.
How do you fix me?
Many people believe that as a hypnotherapist I will simply click my fingers and everything is done and is alright with the world. Some believe that hypnotherapy is something that is done to them, that we wave a magic wand and the problems go away.
Solution focused hypnotherapy is a much more collaborative process and its important to understand that change happens because you want it to and when you take the necessary steps to allow it to happen. We work together in a therapeutic alliance.
My role as your therapist is not to fix you. It is to support, guide, enable and encourage you to resolve your own issues.
My job is to help YOU fix YOU. We will work together in a collaborative way to help you design your own future and take the right steps towards it. It is not something I can do for you but I can help you to do it for yourself.
Will I have to talk about my past?
Not at all, as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist we focus on the present and helping you move forward in life.
What can I expect from a session?
The session is made up of two parts, during the first part of the session we use forward thinking positive talking therapy to support you to move forward. I will help guide you to find your own solutions to your problems. The second part of the session is hypnosis. It allows your subconscious to focus enabling you to consolidate what we’ve discussed in the session and allow your mind to find solutions to your problems. Just lie back, get comfortable, relax and listen! Expect a collaborative process where we work together, with lots of science which allows you to understand how your brain works and most importantly how to make those changes.
How many sessions will I need?
It is entirely dependent upon each individual, however usually between 6-12 session is all that is needed.
Does it work online?
Sessions work in exactly the same way online the only difference is that you don't have travel time and you are in the comfort of your own home.
I have had many clients complete their entire therapy journey online and it has proved just as effective as face to face sessions.
In fact, one of my online clients has recently written to me to let me know that she is now also training to become a hypnotherapy and wrote to me to tell me it is entirely my fault for helping her change her life so completely for the better! I will take that!
Where do I start?
The best place to start is with an initial consultation. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the therapy and how I work with my clients. We will go through some basic information gathering and find out more about how I can help and what you would like to achieve from the therapy.
