  • Hello! We are psychologists, nurses and doctors- and we are all use Hypnotherapy to help our clients make positive changes quickly and enjoyably.
  • We all work virtually across the UK and the wider world, and some of us also do face-to-face sessions.
  • We use hypnosis to guide our clients into a relaxed but focused hypnotic state and use that to develop positive changes in self-esteem and self-confidence, and help people to develop/renew useful life skills which can support them in leading a richer and more balanced life..We often combine useful elements of other psychological approaches e.g. CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy and image based work to provide an individually crafted treatment package.

Mark Appleford

Mark provides therapy and coaching for resilience, transformation and self discovery. He is a very experienced nurse and uses coaching skills, mindfulness, clinical hypnotherapy and compassion based approaches.

Dr Charlotte Davies

I am an Emergency Medicine Consultant in South East England, and predominantly use my hypnosis adjunctively. I trained in hypnosis with BSCAH, and have continued CPD in a variety of topics. I now am starting to see patients with a variety of conditions requiring  hypnosis as part of the treatment – pain, hyperemesis (morning sickness), nausea,  functional disorders, stress. I would be happy to talk to anyone to see if I would be able to help.

Alan Freeburn

Alan is an Applied Psychologist and works in the NHS mental health services. He has over 20 years of using hypnosis along with other techniques and wide variety of clinical conditions. He also works with sports people and musicians to help them manage performance anxiety.

Particular interests – anxiety, phobias and fear of flying.

Availability: Monday-Thursday 7 pm to 9 pm virtual; occasional Friday 9am- 5pm by arrangement in Fife area

Julie Hirst

Julie is a fully qualified Hypnotherapy Practitioner with a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis and 25 years experience of promoting health and well-being in the NHS working as a Public Health Specialist.

She has experience in supporting clients with:

Anxiety and stress

Phobias

Loss, grief and bereavement

Sleep problems

Dr. Michelle Mackin

Michelle is a counselling psychologist and is qualified in CBT. She is highly experienced in working with people who have various mental health problems and addictions.

Availability: Monday-Friday 7 pm-9 pm; Saturday 9 am-12 MD in Derby area

Dr. Gill Smith MRCPsych

Gill is in the process of retiring from active clinical Hypnotherapy, but remains involved with mentoring and teaching other clinicians. She is still a member of Chambers.

Michelle completed the Foundation training in Clinical Hypnosis in 2021 with the British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH).

Additional qualifications: Michelle qualified as a counselling psychologist in 2007 and has completed additional training in integrative psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and EMDR.

The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) is a national professional body whose aim is to promote and assure high standards in the practice of hypnotherapy. There are various types of membership of BSCH, including associate members, full members, diplomats and fellows. Registration demands good quality training, ethical practice and adherence to a code of conduct.

Unless a potential patient/client asks to see one of us particularly, we will look at the enquiry and offer an assessment/1st appointment to whichever of us is most appropriate and who can offer the first appointment most quickly.

We all do online hypnotherapy sessions, and many of us also offer face to face sessions as well.
