Chameleon Coaching and Therapy which was set up in 2012, offers a professional and confidential Psychotherapy, Counselling, Hypnotherapy and Life-coaching service to clients throughout Higham Ferrers, Rushden and Northamptonshire. As an Integrative therapist, I enjoy working organically, drawing on different therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches that will help provide you with what you need to help you work through difficult issues.
Transactional Analysis is the therapeutic approach that informs my work the most as a counsellor. This approach is underpinned by the philosophy that people can change and that we all have the right to be in this world and to be accepted. I aim to help you understand how your past effects the way in which you treat yourself and the way in which you relate and communicate with others, offering suggestions and interventions which will enable you to change and to grow.
Some of the areas I offer support in are: weight-loss, smoking cessation, anxiety disorders and phobias, OCD, stress-management, pain-management, motivation and confidence building, relationship issues, anger-management, PTSD, trauma, domestic abuse, childhood abuse, public speaking and self-esteem and resilience building. I am also a Hypnobirthing Practioner.

Who I Am
My name is Chalene and I am an experienced and qualified Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I have worked as a Drama and English teacher in South Africa, gaining invaluable experience working with children from disadvantaged and troubled backgrounds incorporating both theatre and drama therapy into my work.
I have worked as a Hypnotherapist at the Northampton Clinic and a Counsellor for Mind in Rushden.
Working extensively in the video, TV and film industry and running my own production company has given me invaluable insight into the issues facing women in the industry today from struggling with issues around sexism, maintaining a work/life balance, overcoming feelings of guilt returning to work, starting or running a business and improving health and fitness. Having worked with creative people both in the profession and as a counsellor and coach, I have helped and supported artists explore ways in which they can better flourish in their industry; overcoming fear of rejection, stage fright, improving health and personal body image, learning to quiet negative self-talk and to grow in confidence.
I have a Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. I have my level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision with CPCAB and work as a Supervisor at Bower House.
I am also an accredited member of both the National Counselling Society (MCS Acc.) and the National Hypnotherapy Society (LHS) and follow the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy set by the associations.
I have an enhanced DBS which is updated yearly.
How Does Therapy Work?
Therapy is not a magic cure to all of your problems but will provide you with a warm, safe and confidential space in which you can freely and fully express, explore and clarifying your feelings and thoughts in a relaxed and nonthreatening way.
As your therapist, I will help you to make sense of your present circumstances and encourage you to "unmuddle" and organise your thoughts and feelings. I may need to work pyscho-dynamically, helping you to understand in which ways your past shapes and affects your present condition, helping you to confront, explore and find healing from your past.
In order to move towards your future, I will enable you to set realistic goals, make informed choices and put together useful strategies to overcome your problems, to take reasonable action, to evaluate and reassess your actions and maintain positive changes in every area of your life.
Therapy is not about recovery but discovery - discovering new ways of thinking, coping, responding and of being. It is not about controlling your future, but about empowerment. It is about enabling you to develop the capacity to maintain these changes, to confidently make choices and accept the consequences and in so doing move into your future with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

Sometimes life can be particularly challenging and confusing and you may feel that you no longer can cope on your own. You may have reached a crisis point in your life and feel that you can no longer live with the problem. You may feel that you are not comfortable discussing these issues with friends or family or because of the fragmented and broken society we live in, you may find that you have no-one you can talk to. Feeling alone can only make the problem seem insurmountable and can ultimately hold you back in some way or another.
