About me
My name is Ben Billett, and I founded Open Arms Therapy to provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where people can talk openly, feel heard and begin creating meaningful, lasting change.
Before training as a psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist, I spent over a decade working in the corporate world. During that time, I experienced first-hand the pressures that life, work and personal challenges can place on our mental wellbeing. Those experiences, alongside supporting friends and family through difficult times, inspired me to pursue a career dedicated to helping others.
I believe therapy should never feel clinical or intimidating. My approach is warm, compassionate and tailored entirely to you. Every person has their own story, and together we’ll explore what is holding you back while working towards practical, achievable change at a pace that feels comfortable.
Whether you’re looking for support with anxiety, depression, low confidence, stress, overthinking, fears and phobias, addiction, unwanted habits or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to help you regain control, build resilience and move towards a happier, healthier life.
There is no judgement here - just support, understanding and someone genuinely invested in helping you move forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, having completed my professional training and gained my qualification through the Kent Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy (KICH). My training equipped me with evidence-based therapeutic techniques, combining clinical hypnotherapy with psychotherapeutic approaches to support clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
Alongside my formal qualifications, I have experience working with clients presenting with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, overthinking, fears and phobias, unwanted habits, addiction, sleep difficulties and personal development goals. Every client is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet their individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.
Before establishing Open Arms Therapy, I spent over a decade in the corporate sector. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the pressures many people face, including workplace stress, burnout, anxiety, low confidence and the challenge of balancing professional and personal responsibilities. It also strengthened my communication skills and my ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with people from all walks of life.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and continually expand my knowledge to ensure I provide safe, ethical and effective therapy based on current best practice. My aim is always to create a compassionate, confidential and non-judgemental environment where clients feel comfortable, supported and empowered to make meaningful, lasting change.
