Supervision details

Supervision is an activity that contributes to professionalism in the individual and in hypnotherapy as a modality.  The rapport you have with the right supervisor will help facilitate safe, reflective, ethical and competent practice. You can discuss client cases confidentially, set goals for professional or personal development through supervision, and address any personal matters that may affect how you work with clients like counter-transference, self-confidence, boundaries or time management.  As your supervisor, I may even recommend that you seek your own therapy at times if you are struggling. A little about my own practice I have been in private practice as a hypnotherapist for 14 years and take an integrative and holistic approach. I regularly use the following techniques: parts therapy, Ultra Height, the Simpson Protocol, regression, past life therapy, age progression (working with the future self), NLP techniques such as rewind/fast phobia cure, and Ericksonian techniques such as storytelling. I specialise in working with couples, teens and young people with anxiety and depression, the elderly, people with somatic symptoms or functional medical conditions, and people with cancer or other chronic or terminal illness. I am also trained in several other therapeutic modalities which I incorporate or use as an adjunct in my hypnotherapy practice, so am happy to work with supervisees who may also do this.  This includes the following areas: solution focused brief therapy, couples therapy, Transactional Analysis, Advanced Integrative Therapy, Human Givens Therapy, and applied kinesiology (muscle testing). I have a PhD in educational psychology and have studied the development of professional identity, the formation of groups and communities of practice, and how people move from being novice to expert. Supervision sessions are £60/hour and may be arranged for 30 minutes or 1 hour.  I offer a reduced rate of £50/hour during your first year of practice after qualification. In-person sessions are in my Stirling office, and online sessions are via Zoom or FaceTime. I look forward to working with you and please get in touch if you have any questions.

CNHC
Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.
