Take a chance on change

Another year gone - another year older.

When you reflect back – was it a good year? Did you make a difference to your life or others? Did you achieve all you wanted to achieve or was there more you know you could have done? Are you wondering where the last 12 months have gone and realising there was so much more you could have done, so many opportunities you let go by?

In today’s fast changing world, it can be difficult to keep up the pace and for many people they feel they are just treading water and surviving. If you think back to when you were a child, our parents’ generation traditionally spent their weekends on hobbies, housework, DIY and spending quality time with their family or visiting friends. Today, with social media at our fingertips and businesses open 24/7, we actually spend less time doing the things in life that brought the generations before us pleasure. We are more likely to fire off a quick text or email to a loved one than visit, yet the visit would be more fulfilling to our lives and theirs.

When you stand back and really stop and look at your life – are you actually living it or just existing? We all have bucket lists, but how many people actually put off even starting it? There will always be obstacles in life stopping us from realising these dreams, but it’s up to you whether you just accept it or do something about it!

Time management

How many times do you tell yourself you don’t have ‘time’ for yourself? This may be to join the gym, to get fit or lose weight. Or to visit an elderly relative or to go visit that country that is on your bucket list? Another year has gone by where you have done none of those things, so instead of feeling good about yourself you instead feel guilty or ashamed. You still haven’t attempted to get rid of those extra pounds and feel unhealthy, that elderly relative has now died or is in bad health and you still dream about visiting that place of your dreams, but so far it is really just a pipe dream and you know deep down you will never go.

Hypnosis is a successful therapy which can be utilised to help you manage your time more effectively. The hypnotherapist will guide you into a state of relaxation bypassing the conscious mind and addressing the subconscious mind, which is non-critical and open to change and reasoning. The therapist can help you realise that you do have time, that by analysing your day, you can make the time to do all those things in life that will bring you fulfilment and satisfaction. By making the time to do those things, you will feel unburdened as those feelings of guilt or dissatisfaction will vanish, leaving you feeling more fulfilled and content.

Other people

When you stop and think about why you don’t do all the things you want to do, is it because of the choices you are making or is someone in your life stopping you? Perhaps you and your partner have very different interests and views and they are the more dominant one in the relationship so you always let them make the decisions that affect you both. This can work for some relationships if you are the kind of person who is laid-back and is happy to let the other person take all the responsibility. However, for many people this can become an issue and resentment can easily build up  If you want to go visit that exotic country but your partner would rather stay at home because he hates flying or doesn’t like hot climates, then that can be challenging. If you want to buy the sports car you’ve had your eye on since you were a teenager but your partner insists on a practical people carrier, then angst can build. You may want another child but your partner insists you can’t afford it, but you know it’s unlikely your income will change drastically so you will then be left hurt and unfulfilled.

You may have caring responsibilities for a child or disabled or elderly relative which prevents you from leading the life you want. This too can lead to unhappiness as you feel you are unfulfilled and may even feel cheated that you are unable to do the things and go visit the places you want to. Hypnotherapy can help you reassess your life and enable you to decide if you want to continue with the life you are living just now. The therapist can guide you, helping you re-evaluate your circumstances and help you look objectively at your life. Hypnosis gives you the tools and techniques to change from within and make you stronger mentally. You may decide that your relationship with your partner is worth more to you than your dreams and desires and that you realise that being with them and sharing your life together more than makes up on foregoing a holiday or car.

Hypnotherapy can help you banish those negative thoughts of resentment and guilt, enabling you to look at the positives of being with your partner. On the other hand, you may decide that your life will remain unfulfilled if you do not follow your dreams and that in the long term, your partner and you should part, as you will only continually grow apart and building resentment will eventually destroy your relationship anyway. Hypnosis can help you come to terms with your decision and enable you to go forward with enthusiasm and no regret.

You yourself!

Are you a procrastinator? Do you go through life always believing you will do it ‘mañana’? You constantly have an excuse at the ready as to why you haven’t done something – even something that you know you want to do. You always believe time is on your side and you will get around to it but inevitably you never do. Or perhaps self-sabotage is at play. You don’t allow yourself to do what you like because you feel perhaps you don’t deserve it and constantly punish yourself. You have little self-esteem and carry blame on your shoulders for everything around you, convincing yourself that you are worthless and don’t deserve happiness or that your dreams can and should come true.

Find a reputable hypnotherapist who can help you realise that you are worth it, that you do deserve to enjoy your life to the full. Perhaps when you were young you were constantly told by someone that you weren’t good enough. Hypnosis can help you explore those past memories and enable you to realise that those negative memories no longer deserve a place in your mind and can be replaced by positive, self-appreciating thoughts that you can carry with you, allowing you to move on and live the life you deserve.
