Give birth with no pain using hypnotherapy
Childbirth is a painful experience for most women, especially when giving birth for the first time. Pain is generated by pain receptors responding to the contractions and passage of the baby through the birth canal. However, it is possible to give birth and not feel any pain without drugs through the remarkable process of hypnosis.
Every year, thousands of women who give birth do so feeling no pain and yet being fully aware of what is happening because of the power of hypnosis. The good news is that hypnotic techniques can be used by women around the world in a safe, effective manner.
How does hypnosis work?
You may have seen hypnotists on TV or perhaps in a live show demonstrating the techniques of hypnosis on willing subjects. While the entertainment aspect of hypnosis is quite popular, it also is a powerful tool in helping people to shape their behaviour, perceive the world differently, and even remove the feeling of pain.
It works by placing a person into a special state or trance which is not sleeping, but a heightened state of being. While in this state, they can receive messages that go straight to the subconscious which has a powerful effect. The messages which can be sent by a live hypnotist or using audio recordings have worked for many people in helping them to quit smoking, lose weight, and other changes of habit. However, just how can hypnosis remove the sensation of pain during childbirth?
How does hypnosis remove the pain of childbirth?
Truth be told, hypnosis does not remove the sensation of pain, but how the brain perceives the pain receptors firing when giving birth to a child. The sensations of pain are dampened and removed because the hypnotic effect does not allow them to be interpreted by the brain as pain. Instead, the sensations of giving birth are preserved, but the pain itself is no longer present.
To put it another way, there is an old saying that if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, then it makes no sound. By the same token, pain receptors that fire and send a message to the brain are simply not received in a manner that creates the sensation of pain because the brain has been altered by suggestion to ignore it. The idea that a simple suggestion delivered through hypnosis can stop the pain of childbirth may seem radical at first, but it does work.
By using hypnosis in this way, a mother can experience childbirth without undergoing hours of pain because the hypnotic effect causes the brain to dampen and even ignore the signals coming from the receptors. It does require reinforcement from time to time so that the brain can continue to ignore the pain. However, many women who have experienced the hypnosis treatment and reinforce it with audio recordings and other methods have managed to undergo childbirth without the pain, but still in full awareness of the event itself.
