About me
When your mind won’t switch off
You may appear to be coping on the outside while carrying far more than other people see. Persistent stress, racing thoughts and anxiety can make it difficult to relax, sleep, concentrate or feel like yourself.
For some people, anxiety shows up as panic attacks. For others, it may be a fear of flying, another phobia or a loss of confidence. Whatever brings you here, you do not need to have everything neatly worked out before getting in touch.
A calm, practical approach
I’m Will Sheward, a hypnotherapist and counsellor working with adults. My approach is calm, practical and collaborative: no judgement, no jargon and no mystical nonsense.
I take time to understand how the problem affects you and what you would like to change. Our work is then tailored to you rather than based on a one-size-fits-all script.
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, not mind control. You remain awake, aware and in control throughout. Sessions may include guided relaxation, focused imagery and therapeutic suggestions chosen around your individual needs and goals.
A particular understanding of tinnitus
A particular focus of my practice is tinnitus-related distress. I have lived with tinnitus for more than 20 years, so I understand the frustration, fear, constant monitoring and disrupted sleep that can surround it.
My work focuses on the distress, reactivity and patterns of attention that can make tinnitus feel harder to live with, rather than claiming to change the underlying sound itself.
Emotional eating and GLP-1 support
I also support people using medically prescribed GLP-1 medication who want to work on emotional eating, confidence and sustainable behaviour change.
This work complements medical care and does not replace advice from your prescriber or another healthcare professional.
Experience and professional standards
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in senior, high-pressure business roles. That experience gave me a practical understanding of responsibility, performance pressure, burnout and the habit of pushing through long after something needs to change.
It also taught me how to listen properly, build trust and help people make change without talking down to them. I work within clear professional and ethical boundaries and will be honest if I believe another form of support would be more appropriate.
