About me

My name is Sophie and I am passionate about helping people feel calmer, more positive and present. I support people in reducing overthinking and spiralling thoughts, and developing the tools to navigate life’s challenges.

My approach is personalised and solution focused, working with you to understand where you are now and where you’d like to be. I support clients with a wide range of challenges, including sleep difficulties, anxiety, stress, phobias, OCD, addiction, relationships with food and sports performance.

I’ve always had a natural curiosity about the brain and what shapes the way we think, feel and behave. My university studies included social, child, relationship and criminal psychology, and I continue to build on knowledge through ongoing CPD and professional development.

Alongside my work, I’m a big believer in balance myself. Outside of hypnotherapy, you’ll usually find me riding horses in the countryside, doing CrossFit, eating pasta or spending time with my lovely Labradoodle, Teddy.

I’m a Level 5 Clinical Hypnotherapist and Modern Psychotherapist, registered with GHR and ACCPH, and have been working with clients since March 2023.

Training, qualifications & experience

I achieved my Ba (hons) Social Sciences at Edinburgh Napier University and graduated in the Summer of 2022

I became a Qualified Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist in March 2023 (GQHP, HPD & ACCPH) and have been seeing clients at my clinic in Galashiels since.

I have held a PVG scheme since qualified in March 2023

I also worked as an visitor support assistant for four seasons at Floors Castle, in Kelso, where I interacted with the public, gave short enjoyable history lessons and even assisted at events, dinners and concerts! I deeply value the experience and confidence I gained at this job, I believe it is where I found my love for  supporting others which I apply in every therapy session.

Member organisations

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC). Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level. All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.
