About me

I’m Sarah. I’m a registered Integrative Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist. I integrate Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy to help with issues including Anxiety, Depression, Relationship problems, Low Self-esteem, Overwhelming emotions, Compulsive Disorders, Eating disorders, Panic attacks, Phobias, Addictive behaviours and more.

Everyone is entirely unique, and therefore there is no standard technique or process of working with clients. As an Integrative therapist, I have trained in a variety of approaches and draw upon these to tailor your therapy to suit you, focusing on achieving the results you are looking for.

Approaches I have received training in include: Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Person-centred, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-focused, Polyvagal and Somatic (Body) therapies, Neurolinguistic programming (NLP), and Focusing. All the approaches and techniques I use are evidence-based, and underpinned by neuroscience, specifically neuroplasticity – the brain’s natural ability to rewire and reorganise.

Taking a healing-oriented approach means that therapy we do together targets symptoms and neurological pathways in the brain by focusing on the core emotions, body sensations and nervous system responses that are connected to them.

Whatever feelings have brought you here - whilst it might not feel like it now - you already have all the resources to heal inside you. My role as your therapist is to act as a catalyst for your exploration and reconnection with these internal resources to make the changes you want, beginning by providing you with a warm, respectful, non-judgemental and supportive space where you can feel truly seen and heard.

Hypnosis & Experiential therapy

We humans tend to rely on our thinking brains to solve everyday problems, but when it comes to issues like trauma and deep-rooted behaviours, a cognitive approach isn’t very effective. This is because the root processes creating difficult emotions and behaviours are held in the middle part of our brains, which operates outside our conscious control.

This part of our brain speaks in the language of moving images, sensory memories, bodily sensations, and feelings, and is closely linked to our nervous systems. Through hypnosis, we can harness the imagination to heal itself.

Hypnosis is the formal use of the natural trance state we enter into multiple times a day when we feel completely absorbed in thought or an activity e.g. when reading, showering, driving, and daydreaming.

In this state, between deep relaxation and sleep, the subconscious becomes more receptive, enabling us to use your imagination to induce deep relaxation, strengthen your resources, explore new ideas, and rewire unhelpful processes, healing younger parts of yourself that hold onto them.

During hypnotherapy, you remain in control, able to move and communicate as normal. You will remember the experience, however, you may find changes surprisingly easy to make after the session, as your unconscious mind integrates the suggestions introduced in trance.

I frequently work with clients using Internal Family Systems (IFS). This highly intuitive approach views the mind as composed of multiple parts, each with its own perspective and qualities, often developed in response to life experiences. It helps individuals understand and heal these parts by fostering internal communication and compassion, particularly with those parts holding onto trauma or negative beliefs. By treating each part with curiosity and kindness, IFS facilitates the release of harmful patterns and promotes a harmonious and integrated self, enabling personal growth and healing.

I also work with clients to practise self-hypnotherapy, mindfulness and body-based grounding exercises such as breathwork to help regulate the nervous system more efficiently when experiencing fight, flight or freeze states.

I believe that in developing our ability to self-soothe and experience more self-compassion, we are better equipped to understand, accept and process our emotions, which has a profound effect on our sense of freedom, life fulfilment, and relationship with ourselves and others. My role is to guide and support you in getting to exactly where you want to be.

I look forward to working with you.
