About me

Howard Cooper is one of the UK’s leading ‘Rapid Change’ therapists. Known for helping people to create RAPID shifts in their thinking, Howard rejects the notion that deep and lasting change needs to take a long time.

Drawing on a variety of psychological tools, Howard has supported over 2,500 individuals over the past 20 years on an international level, regularly bringing about transformational changes to their lives.

His practical, dynamic and innovative approach has helped people from all walks of life and ages overcome intrusive personal phobias, anxieties and issues that they have often suffered from for years, offering his clients a new lease of life.

In addition to his personal therapy work, Howard is a very popular and entertaining presenter on a range of topics relevant to society today and has a huge following amongst his peers through his podcast.

He spent almost two years as the lead psychological presenter on Virgin Atlantic’s critically acclaimed ‘Flying Without Fear’ course, and also appeared as the expert on fear of flying on Channel 4’s documentary ‘Fear of Flying: Caught on Camera’.

He has also contributed to other media appearing on the BBC, in The Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, Sun, CEO Magazine, just some of the media who have documented his successful ability to help people change quickly.

MENTAL HEALTH BATTLES
At the age of 15, I was diagnosed with a ‘severe panic attack & anxiety disorder’. I spent 3.5 years in therapy and put on medication and throughout that bleak time I was convinced I would never get better.

My symptoms and my struggles included:

  • Regular panic attacks (often daily)
  • I said at the time “I always feeling anxious”
  • Derealisation – I felt that I was disconnected to my body.
  • Agrophobic – couldn’t leave the house.
  • Air hunger – Felt like I couldn’t take a deep breath or enough oxygen in.
  • Dizziness and feeling off balance.
  • Health anxiety

Finally after 3.5 years, I got my therapist’s theory as to “WHY” I had these issues. The problem was… I still wasn’t much better!

So I left therapy, determined to find some more solution focused methods of helping myself. And as part of this journey I stopped focusing on the “WHY”, and started focusing on the “HOW”.

HOW could I become FREE FROM ANXIETY?

The tools I came across helped me so dramatically to shift the way I was feeling and gave me practical ways I could change my thinking that I felt compelled to start sharing these ideas with others. Since then I have collated 100s of powerful tools and strategies for beating anxiety, which not only transformed my own life but the lives of over 2500+ individuals… AND NOW I WANT TO HELP YOU!

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. Further information

Over the last 20 years Howard has been a collector and student of a number of psychological methodologies that help people create change quickly, without the need for ‘Week-in-Week-out’ therapy.

This is about cherry-picking and using ONLY the things he found that REALLY WORKED from a variety of different approaches, which include (but are not limited to) Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Mindfulness, Self-Enquiry and more.

Usually everyone is booked in for an initial programme of 2 sessions.

Each session is 90 Minutes and they take place 2-3 weeks apart.

This is NOT about ‘week-in, week-out’ therapy and people often experience positive shifts as early as that first appointment.

When people come back to the second session we get feedback about what changes you have noticed and we take it from there.

Success Rates?

Whilst NO therapist or change-worker can realistically claim 100% success what I can say is that the majority of people who come to see me get significant value from our work together (experience serious improvements and/or getting all the way there) often in just the initial 2 sessions.

Around 70% of people report significant improvements after the first session. Great… we now use the second session to cross the ‘i’s’ and dot the ‘t’s’.

Around 15% claim no change after the first session. This is also useful feedback and means we will likely alter the approach during the second session, which then leads to positive change.

Around 15% claim total transformation after just one session. Whilst this can be extremely exciting we then want to use the second session to ensure they aren’t psychologically jumping the gun and changes are integrated and sustainable.

If there is value in any further work that can be arranged.

Are you a good fit for this kind of help?

I’m looking to work with people who are:

  • Open to challenging their current thinking (rather than wanting to hang on to existing thought processes).
  • Willing to see this as a collaboration with me (NOT expect me to simply FIX them.)
  • Seriously invested in experiencing changes (rather than seeking to prove to themselves they are beyond help).
  • Committed to applying tools and approaches in between sessions (rather than just hoping ‘magic’ happens.)

Please note: I’m not suggesting you have to believe “it” can work… I’m simply suggesting that this coming with an open mind, a willingness to learn new things and mindset of, “I’m going to roll my sleeves up and get stuck in”. For those who come with this mindset, working WITH me could be profoundly life changing.
