About me

I'm currently offering in-person therapy (*where appropriate), or online therapy using online encrypted video messaging to protect clients during the Covid-19 pandemic, so you can still access therapy, according to your  needs, even if you're self-isolating during current social distancing restrictions.

I'm Denise, a highly experienced, UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Advanced Hypno-Psychotherapist and qualified EMDR therapist, offering supportive, non-judgemental, compassionate psychotherapy, counselling and effective hypnotherapy since 1994. Working integratively,I'll use a range of techniques and therapy approaches tailored to your particular needs to help you make the changes you desire - options include Psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing), Gestalt Psychotherapy, Body-orientated approaches, Inner Child Work, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis and Affect-Centred Therapy.

My specialist, Masters Degree level, training as a Hypno-Psychotherapist also enables me to gently but effectively use hypnosis and hypnotherapy alongside counselling/psychotherapy to facilitate and speed up the process of positive change, where appropriate. I also hold the European Certificate for Clinical Hypnosis, which is the use of hypnosis in a clinical context.

In addition, my wide-ranging training and experience in psychotherapy enables me to also offer an empathetic, compassionate and non-judgemental space and therapeutic 'relationship' where you can feel the necessary support and safety to have the time you need to talk about and resolve difficult or distressing feelings or experiences which may be negatively affecting your quality of life, well-being or relationships. (If you are interested in learning more about the Integrative Psychotherapy I offer, please also take a look at my profile on Counselling Directory - link below).

About Hypno-Psychotherapy
Put simply, Hypno-Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy which uses hypnosis as an aid: it is a gentle, yet powerful and often speedy, way of supporting and inducing/encouraging positive change. Consequently, a Hypno-Psychotherapist has additional training and expertise to be able to also work successfully with more complex or challenging problems than those which can often be effectively treated by those hypnotherapists & NLP practitioners without initial, additional, psychotherapy training. As many emotional, behavioural or psychological problems have a sub-conscious or 'unconscious' aspect to them, this rare integration of hypnosis with multi-modal psychotherapy can offer the perfect combination and approach for many people seeking to make changes in their lives.

What's next?

During a Consultation we discuss what’s troubling you, what you want to achieve with therapy and then collaboratively agree on a way to help you get there. Whether you have a specific problem or worry, are feeling anxious or low or even overwhelmed and struggling to cope or want to be free from unwanted behaviours it’s likely I can help you with my integrative, eclectic approach.

I work with individuals both in short- and long-term therapy according to your needs.
